How will IP geolocation work with IPv6? Is the # of addresses too large to maintain lookup tables?

It works without issues. I use it for analytics with Nginx and Maxmind. Subnets are used I think. Like a /64 is typically assigned to a home user.

All public ipv6 is still registered by an official body Like ripe

As with IPv4, you don't need an entry for every single address. Instead, you just maintain a tree of subnets.

We're never going to come close to using all possible IPV6 addresses. Every person on the planet would have to own 400 septillion internet connections.
Every IP address gets assigned by an ISP just like with IPV4. That's where the geolocation gets assigned.
