Sorry to make a tech support thread but I've seen this problem happen on at least half a dozen computers now and I can never fix it. It's always Windows 7 for some reason. What happens is that the amount of usable RAM is less than the amount actually available. This is just an example image from this current PC, i've seen 4GB RAM installed with 1.2GB usable on others.
Any ideas what causes this and how to fix it? Google gives useless suggestions.
Some points:
>It isn't because of a 32-bit version of Windows. It happens on 64-bit Windows (see the pic).
>It isn't because of the startup option to limit RAM that you can edit in msconfig
>It isn't because of some setting in the BIOS
>It isn't because of an outdated BIOS (I just flashed it to the latest and the same thing happens)

in your case probably shared memory for the Intel GMA. check in display adaptor properties and it should say
insert vidiyacard and try again

Shared\reserved memory, usually for video card

Interesting theory but I don't think that's it.

Well its a good thing you aren't paid to think.

1) it says the memory is shared
2) it says zero memory is reserved

but that doesn't prove that it's memory reserved /for the video card/
if it was surely it would say in the video card properties
here's a screen of the resource monitor
it says 139MB reserved
but it also says 0MB reserved in the video card properties i posted here >>57476991
