So, I've tried all the memes -- standing desk, ergonomic

So, I've tried all the memes -- standing desk, ergonomic chair, recliner, bed PC, treadmill desk, exercise ball chair, etc and none of them work. Leaning back is really ackward to control KBM with and makes screen viewing distance weird plus it winds up being not that comfy anyway. I could go on about the myriad of issues with each setup but not right now.

I used to just slouch forward when I had a cheapo office chair. The reason we do this is because it takes tension off the back muscles, allowing them to contract and this feels good. Problem is they say it bends your spine which is bad for your lower back. And eventually becomes painful.

So, solution: Why doesn't anyone make a lean/slouch FORWARD chair? So that your weight is supported by your chest/stomach rather than your back, thus taking the strain off your back? Kinda like a chair turned backward but the back shaped like a little adjustable loft for the front of your body and the arm rests positioned accordingly. Like laying on your stomach but more upright and convenient.
>>
because having shit push on you around your solar plexus is the most uncomfortable shit in the world
>>
>>57451529
you can adjust the angle so you're only leaning forward a little bit and some of the weight can be distributed to your arms too

seems like the knee issue is caused by people bracing to not "fall forward" and bust themselves up. I think that you could avoid this by making the base bigger (would be and appear more stable and even having a lever (electric would be fancy but $$$) adjust the angle of forward tilt.

well if it were a computer chair rather than lounge chair and had arm rests it would be literally the as you do now.

but for that lounge chair just lay the monitor, keyboard and mouse below you. no desk required.

no your arms would be resting on arm rests. the lounge chair was just a similar but different idea.

>>
>>57456852
If you're working your back to heavily then you're setting yourself up for failure at a desk, no matter the posture. During heavy exercise you weaken the muscles slightly for a few days. That's why you are supposed to skip muscle groups every other day or so which it sounds like you're doing. But your back may still be wore out from exercise even after a few days so it can't properly support you between exercises leading to poor posture and the other side effects.

Try doing heavy arm exercises, then see how long you can hold a significant weight above your shoulder the next day (no locking the elbow.) Try again before you redo your arm exercises, chances are you can hold it a lot longer. You have the same reaction in your back, just across more muscles and joints with fewer nerve endings leading to a duller reaction to early pain symptoms.

Try lightening up on your back exercises (stopping them completely), unless you're body building as/for a sport. When you can comfortably work at your desk in a correct posture and without pain, dial exercise back up slowly until you find a better medium. If the pain doesn't recede in 1-2 weeks then seek a doctor who may refer you to a chiropractor or other specialist. You may have more than a weak muscle or imbalance causing problems.

I stand at my desk and sit periodically in a cheap stool. My back and neck are doing a lot better because of the more natural posture (a correct posture that is easier for me to maintain) and stretches that are correcting years of bad sitting posture.
>>
>>57457020
>If you're working your back to heavily then you're setting yourself up for failure at a desk
not even a little bit.

my back feels great from lifting. it hurts from sitting. i started a heavy strength training routine in hopes it would help and it didn't. my back is far stronger than it ever was and it still hurts from sitting.

i do squats, deadlifts, overhead press, bench press, rows and pull ups regularly. doesn't help. only thing that helps is not being on computer. i've tried standing, sitting, lying down, treadmill and all at a desk. they all have various crippling problems.
>>
and oh yeah i went to the doctor they said stop doing what hurts. i went to a chiro a few times and didn't like it. nobody said i had any specific problem. i'm 100% fully capable and pain free if i just don't use a computer.
>>
>>57453031
This would actually be the most comfortable. For one it spreads your weight over the largest possible area of body, and in the reclined position you don't need to use any of your muscles to keep your body in the right position.

i've done a bed pc setup which is similar idea. it's alright but there are numerous issues. you can't hold a mouse on an angled desk so you pretty much have to use a trackball. you can get very dizzy from laying down that much. it got so bad that i feared standing up. you may develop hip, low back and knee problems. your back muscles relax which is nice but the extreme sedantary nature causes a lack of blood flow to an area of your body that already struggles with this, your back so your back might be aching more than before when doing anything but lying down. all in all, lying down is better than the others but it's not a proper solution.

My mouse is a Logitech thumb trackball so I can use it in bed easily

I'll be honest. I'd be absolutely terrified of laying down with a 9kg monitor/screen above me.

then again if I had $5000 for this monitor I'd probably be able to just ship a VESA iMac or make a good Hackintosh build.

>>
>>57451508

That image is fucking retarded.

The problem isn't the user's back angle. The problem is the user's forward head syndrome. The middle picture is correct, except that the neck should not be craned forward.

That said, your idea in your last paragraph is probably a good idea. People's backs (I mean everything from neck to torso to lower back to hamstrings) are usually *horrifyingly* weak. I've had a lot of problems caused by muscular imbalances, and it's almost always the back side that's weak.

>>57453031

That looks fantastic. Reminds me of a web page I came across years ago. Some old bearded wizard had a lot of back problems, and he posted a picture of his workstation. It was a Laz-E-Boy with a rotating monitor and keyboard tray.

**** PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT ****

Here's the video I post every time this comes up:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTV6UCh-yhs

Feel free to ignore his goofball explanations, but that series of exercises is seriously fantastic.

Also, don't engage in push-up challenges that were all the rage a couple of years ago. Most people have forward-rotated shoulders and forward head syndrome. You need to work on your back. Do pull-ups instead. Yoga is pretty awesome for exposing your muscular imbalances, plus hot chicks as a bonus. You'd probably be amazed at how horrible you are at the movements that require back strength ("cobra", "bow pose", "wheel pose").

>>57470690

Also, here's a chair to consider. I always had a problem with typical chairs: when I was mentally engaged (i.e. not paying attention to my posture), my butt would slowly slide forward and I'd end up slouching back against the chair. Chairs that have a "tractor" style seat prevent you from sliding forward. Another potential bonus is that you can actually angle the front of the chair somewhat downward. In theory, having a greater angle in your hip may be healthier for you (better blood flow, partial engagement of leg muscles).

The attached pic is a chair made by BodyBilt. They're extremely expensive new ($800+?), but can be found cheaply and in good condition at used office furniture stores. I have the high version (for drafting table type use) that I use sometimes with my standing desk.
>>
>>57470602
Decently apparently. I see most people have some pillow addon for the lower back though, so it seems they're flawed really.
Only reason they're popular is because streamers get them for free to advertise to dipshit, and then dipshits buy them. They're overpriced for what they offer, but they're not the worst.
>>
>>57470602

Those may be comfortable, but they're probably not conducive to good posture.

Look at the upper bolsters. Those are either Chinese knock offs of automotive performance seats, or they're styled after them. Those types of side bolsters are meant to trap you and keep you from sliding when cornering.

Those upper side bolsters will contribute to the forward rotation of your shoulders.

Additionally, the bottom seat on that has little if any side bolstering. That will become uncomfortable faster than a contoured seat bottom. Plus, with no 'nose' and a leather or vinyl surface, you're going to find yourself sliding forward.

Worst of all are those arms. They're curved, which means you'll be resting your forearms on a relatively small surface area. They're also immobile and placed fairly wide. I find that I do best in a chair with adjustable arms (sliding in and out, not just up and down) to support my forearms with my elbows bent at around 90 degrees.
>>

There are only three positions that are natural and don't fuck up your posture on the long run: standing, squatting and the lotus position.

Western way of sitting is simply not designed around the human body, and fucks up your spine in the long run (khyphosis).

A lower chair that allows you to squat would be better but is not exactly comfy.

The comfiest position if you can do is the full lotus position. Naturally realigns your spine and straightens you, and is very stable. But it takes time to stretch your thights, and at first leaves you sore for hours.

I lift weights, cycle, and take my dog on long walks. Recently realized that I start getting depressed if I don't do at least one of those things every day.

>Lotus position is the best position
>But it requires you to train your body to do it and it will cause intense pain for hours until your body eventually breaks down, muscles soaked in lactic acid and your body covered in blood.
>The lord is upon you. You try to squirm but his finger's already in your bum. You scream, but you only expel spaghetti. Your legs slacken. A kind man with golden skin repairs your legs by the riverside. Everything is calm but you're still bursting with rigatoni. He massages your knees into a fine curd. Your body is ready.

I use a car seat on a power recliner base.

I had the recliner whose upholstery was worn and wood loose, so instead of getting a hernia moving it whole I blew it apart with my cordless screwgun. Lo and behold, the base was interesting enough to keep for play value. I then bolted a hinged plate to the base and bolted a passenger seat (usually not badly worn compared to driver side seats) to that giving me both sets of adjustments. Seat was 25 bucks at a U-Pull It.

No pics because Anons insult anything that isn't expensive and beautiful, but you can do the same thing with high end seats. Remember that nofuckingchair has the engineering put into a modern automobile seat.

I use a MSFT Natural keyboard and a Marble Mouse trackball on my lap. Monitor is on an monitor arm on a simple custom base I welded from clean leftovers from machinistbros fab shop.

Totally adjustable, totally comfortable, and easy to do.

>Leaning back is really ackward to control KBM with and makes screen viewing distance weird plus it winds up being not that comfy anyway.

I touch type with no problem nor is trackball a problem but if it were I'd add arm rests with a mouse on each side for ambidex comfort. Proper ergonomics rock. Focal length from monitor is no problem because text size is easily set to suit.

No back issues (my back is fucked) or neck issues (my neck is really fucked) and I can stay in place for many hours without needing to stretch.

BTW for my neck I also use a TENS unit but without relying on the stupid adhesive on the pads. I glued the pads to two small pieces of Velcro then made a simple neck band from more Velcro (get Velcro, not generic hook and loop, any craft aisle at Walmart has it or order online). Bands keep pads firmly in place so I can crank it up and loosen some of my bound up muscles and relieve neck pain. My MRI would scare a layperson.

I sit in the KAB ACS executive

I mostly lean back, swing enabled. Never any pains

Laying on my stomach like that for just a few minutes kills my neck for some reason, wasn't always like this though. Don't think we are ment to be laying or sleeping on our stomachs either.

nothing that involves a mouse and a one-piece keyboard can ever be comfortable. One-piece keyboard means your hands have to be in a really awkward and fixed position for prolonged amounts of time, and mouse means you gotta do a lot of switching. Both make truly leaning back impossible to be comfortable.

Look at the non-computing things you do where you actually are comfortable and find out why you can't adopt this for your computing time.
Like, it's much easier to find a comfortable position to just write on paper in a normal fashion than it is to find one when you're at a computer. Probably because the thing you're looking at is not on the same height as your head, but on the table (the thing that's actually supposed to be where your work is). Imagine a maybe laptop size screen mounted into the table (or put below a glass table, with rails so you can shift it around, kinda like a drawer), and then you have two ergodox halfes and a trackball that you can arrange in any fashion on the table itself.

My balls hurt when I sit at the computer. Ive tried so many different chairs. Nothing works. Doctors say nothing is wrong. Any fresh ideas please?

insert your balls up your ass or bring them on top of your thighs.

wear briefs or boxer briefs. wear a more stretchable material like sports shorts or jogging pants. get dress pants with a small percentage of elastic material.

its called sitting backwards on an otherwise standard office chair without armrests. you sit with your upper torso pushing the "backrest" back.

it just works. you end up a hunchback or having spinal I juries but its top tier comfy.
