The Internet will soon be a place.
>Google plans to ship a public version of Chrome on Android with support for WebVR 1.1
>The company plans to launch a beta in December with a stable release planned for January. WebVR in the “stable” release means that it’ll make its way into the same Chrome browser app that everyone on Android sees in the Google Play store.
>What this means is that the browser will allow users to pop their phone into a Cardboard or Daydream headset to experience VR web content straight through Chrome, without the need to download individual apps.
>anyone needs this

SERIOUSLY FUCK GOOGLE DO I REALLY NEED TO GO NOGAPPS AND HACK THE SHIT OUT OF THE STUFF I NEED THAT NEEDS GAPPS
At this point might as well get some old phone and run Replicant, or just dig my old Nokia from whatever drawer it is in
>>57424129
I think in the future there will be no apps and everything will run seamlessly. This is a good start.
Plus I'd have something useful to Daydream on
I feel like this is the kind of thing that a company goes all in on, but the demand isn't there enough yet, so the whole project gets scrapped. . Then someone else comes along years later and repackages everything after getting the rights to everything on the cheap and makes a fortune.
Look up Web Bluetooth API, OP.

Thanks for feeding me the info, but how does it relate to the VR websites thing?
>>57426812
This is slowly paving the road to total fucking immersion. Imagine having all kinds of Bluetooth devices being controlled by a website, while you're looking at the website itself.
>>57426832
I just imagine other people fucking with my bluetooth devices, or me not going to work and doing everything in a VR office.
I expected this
It'll go nowhere
We need an foss vr standard
Give me ideas for VR websites you would browse, /g/.

But you can be disguised, like in Second Life...
oh god
It's a good thing I've been GAPPS-free for a year now.
repent and use free software. resist the AR shopping mall of the future.

Whatever happened to second life?
In my senior business and finance course they we talking about it being the future of professional B2B transactions. Even showing us how to do conferences, presentations and deal negations in their virtual space. It seemed to have some merit, but I couldn't shake the feeling that business exchanges would be done some other way.

Never forget Enron and Blockbuster's Video deal to do streaming video service back when 56k was the norm.
How did this brilliant deal fail?
I mean they had the courage to shape the world and defy conventions.
