Why isn't your website using HTTPS?
Certificates are free. There is absolutely no reason not do to it.
>>
>>57418957
Have you actually tried using Let's Encrypt?

It's a huge ballache for anything more than a simple single site web server, and the certificate expires after 3 months.

StartSSL has been free for years and is far more convenient
>>
>>57419007
So what? Setup a cron job which regularly checks the certificate's expiry date and then renews it automatically. They even provide a script to do that, all you need to do is run it.
>>
>>57418957
But it is.

I was fapping and waiting since LE was just starting to form.
>>
>>57419007
I got cron renewal and public key pinning set up pretty painlessly. git gud.
>>
>>57419007
You're retarded. The entire point is to run a cronjob to automatically renew it every couple of months
>>
>>57418957
3 months validity.

And no, I can't run cron job to update it automatically, because my hosting service doesn't provide programmatic interface for this.

And no, I'm not changing my hosting service because it's the best one for this price.
>>
>>57419007
But StartSSL will no longer be supported by major browsers after recent controversies.
>>
>>57419947
>And no, I'm not changing my hosting service because it's the best one for this price.

The cheapest doesn't always mean the best
>>
>>57420299
Fucking words of wisdom, have some more?
>>
But I do use HTTPS. Let's Encrypt is an amazing move in the world of HTTPS.
>>
>>57418957
https is nonfree
>>
>>57419007
>the certificate expires after 3 months.
they have a tool to renew all your certs automatically, and you can run it via a cron job
>>
>>57419947
>my hosting service doesn't provide programmatic interface for this.

>using a "webhost"
>complaining about anything
how about you get an actual server first
>>
>>57418957
Exactly
>>
>>57420299
But the cheapest is the cheapest. And fuck being the best, I want to be cheap.
>>
>>57421109
how cheap? i use one that is AU$15/quarter (AU$5/mo), which gives me 2 cores, 512M ram, and 20G space (optionally 10G if i wanted it on an SSD instead)
it's a VPS, so I have full access to it as if it was a standalone machine, i can install whatever OS i like, and any software i like
>>
>>57421156
oh, and a gigabit line with 100G bandwidth
>>
att uses port 443 to log into att routers so everytime they need to get in or the router gets reset then my settings get ruined.
>>
>>57421174
>100G bandwidth
>>
>>57421222
despite this i keep the router in check
>>
>>57421227
i don't need a whole lot, it's just a couple websites, a mail server, a gps tracking service, and a couple other small things
>>
But i do.
>>
>>57419007
retard, set up a cron job, and forget about it.
>>
>>57421016
> complaining about anything
Where exactly did I complain? I just answered OP's question.
> how about you get an actual server first
Sure, just let me know which one is just as good and for $10/yr.
>>
>>57421263
usually even vps connections are >= a home connections caps
>>
>>57421514
>home connection
>cap
>>
>>57421607

In america, everywhere I know has a 300gb gap, bigger cities have 1tb caps.
>>
>>57421713
i'm in australia and have no cap
>>
>>57421730
what the fug

Why dont you just host it from home then
>>
>>57421791

>>
>>57421607
