I was dragged kicking and screaming to Facebook because nobody uses the "old" technology anymore. Because Facebook's solution to "one stop shopping" for email, public messages, and chat is "good enough" for most people in spite of the data-mining. I don't want to be on Facebook, but if I want to be updated on the current events of my irl friends without calling them individually every fucking day, I have to check their facebook statuses.

I entirely dislike Facebook, but the tech-illiterates that insist on talking there have forced me to migrate over, even though I prefer the holy trinity of email, usenet, and IRC.
