I'm looking for the comfiest, relatively cheap laptop to write, research and shitpost on. What do you recommend /g/?

Thinkpad T60, upgrade ram and swap the cpu for the T7600
>>57379720
Thinkpad X200/220/230
or if you want a bigger one, T400/410/420/430
the 220/420 are super cheap right now and have decent specs

I have a T60 with a 1.8Ghz duo and 2GB of RAM and this is "plenty" for most uses. Or rather, it doesn't lag enough that it's worth spending too much money on improving.
>/g/ automatically says thinkpads are the solution
Used thinkpads are great, but overkill for text editing and web browsing. Any old used shitter laptop that can get a fresh OS install or even a linux distro install will do the same job for a lot less money, as well as be smaller and lighter

Yeah, but you shouldn't pay for a used pleb laptop. This is assuming that OP can't get something for free, otherwise he'd do that.

Dell is good too
in fact, most business grade laptops
driver and software support is still good, they are built better, they can be repaired easier and there are more parts available than for your average consumer notebook
I agree that they can be more expensive, but there are so many old Dells and Thinkpads around that they can be bought for almost nothing even with all those "overkill" features
