What's the best bluray playback software? I'm currently

Just to confirm- you want to run straight from the disk, complete with unskippable menus and all the rest of it? Why?? Use MakeMKV, play the result in anything you like.

I've used MacGo, which is really nice except it doesn't have 7.1 playback just yet..? So, if you're hooking it up to your home theater system it may not be the best.

I've tried messing with VLC to get to it play bluray, but so far have been unsuccessful. DVDFab was okay but it's very advertiser/spammy feeling, so I wouldn't recommend it.

Don't download it from shitty sites like softonic. They'll probably bundle malware or something. Grab it from makemkv dot com. It's a neat tool. Point it to a DVD or BD, check some boxes, and it will pump out nice self-contained non-DRMed .mkv files.
