/g/ I can't use firefox anymore, it's too slow. I often have a couple vids and around 20 tabs open and firefox slows a lot when having that many tabs. What is a good open source alternative?

I don't care if it uses a lot of resources but I want it to go fast, I can't even type this post without noticing the shitty response time.

No wonder Firefox is slow when your entire system is broken

I don't think it's distro's fault, I can boot Ubuntu and everything happens the same way beside some screen tiring because I don't have the GPU drivers installed.
Nice meme.

Multiple DEs is the reason.

Chromium.

You pay for the speed in ram because chromium seperates and sandboxes everything but some RAM usage is a small price to pay for speed and security.
>>
I really don't understand how people have so many problems with Firefox. I use ff nightly on both win 10 and arch, and it works fine. No crashes, no slowdown, no issues whatsoever.
e10s has made a noticeable improvement over regular Firefox which still hasn't enabled it be default.

Firefox is dead to me

I am currently unironically using Google Chrome

I know all about botnet etc, but Chrome is literally superior in all aspects

Pick a fork and go with it. Pale Moon is very lightweight by comparison.

You could also use SeaMonkey, but it has piss poor extension support.

I just downloaded chromium, opened the same exactly tabs I had on firefox, it uses more RAM but holy shit how faster it is.
I think becoming part of the botnet it's not that bad of an option, after all I still use Google's mobile botnet.

Web 2.0 sucks.

Not the same guy but some programs pull in an insane number of deps. Krita used to pull in like 70% of kde, not sure if it still does. Also anything written in perl likes pulling in absurd amounts of dependencies.

>>57297552
This tbqh senpai. What kind of mental deficiency requires you to have that many tabs open?

this desu. I'm practically forced to use Firefox for its customization, add-ons and >muh freedoms but I absolutely loathe using it. The shit is SO fucking slow, especially on Wangblows. I was so fed up with the slowness I even opted to download Chromium for speed, but at the cost of fredumz.

Needless to say I didn't like Chromium at all. It's ugly, lacking in customization and a few add-ons I want and doesn't respect >muh privacy.

I'm so sick of modern web browsers, and the modern web in general. Everything is so god damn slow for the sake of "aesthetically pleasing JavaScript :^)" and other pointless decorations.

Why did people suddenly become averse to static, pure HTML web pages? I find it so ironic that a site will be a news article in HTML with a few images and barely scrape 1MB, then they put 6MB of bloaty shit on top, then use a script bigger than the information to stop you viewing the information if you have an adblocker.

Fucking hell. If you got rid of all the Javascript shite I wouldn't need to run script and adblockers in the first place, and they wouldn't need adverts to finance it.

It's sad, but I'm actually having a great time with BBSs and Gopher because of this.

Chromium itself is pretty much chrome-tier botnet at this point, except it doesn't use some proprietary additions .

Pale moon.

It's like a continuation of old firefox, and it runs incredibly fast.

The javascript rendering is kinda weird tho

Firefox is a shit! I googled about this problem and I saw it coming since 2009 and to date has not been fixed. The "fix" indicated by Mozilla does not work in current versions.

i really dont have problems with ads, and it blocks some aspects of botnet that you guys hate like for an example, it creates a https tunnel to every webpage you visit, and it blocks internet fingerprinting.

all right, im sure it's good for someone, not me though
if something shows me ads that arent automatically blocked i take the simple route of not using that service again

Arguably, it's not sustainable for you, either. The things you like will go away.

I do use a tool to do that same thing if I like the site. It's called money. A very useful tool.

qutebrowser, xombrero, uzbl, dwb, and luakit work fine, but some particularly """fancy""" websites like
megaupload dont seem to work. They eat up around 1/4 of the resources firefox does.

Also look at surf.

If you want a really small browser use dillo, its DUMBASS fast but it doesnt support javascript, among other things.
