What monitor is this thing using?
>>57289391
It's very likely a proprietary panel. I've never seen a monitor like that on the market.
custom made
if i had to guess id guess samsung panel
we will find out once reviews are out
>>57289414
Yep. They paid a manufacturer to build a panel to their specification.
>>57289438
Apple uses 16:9 on their iMacs and iPhones.
>>57289414
>proprietary panel.
Stop using this phrase, Jesus. It's a custom panel, that resolution is no one's IP.
>>57289391
Microsoft uses custom panels on their stuff, so the resolution scales to something not retarded at 200%, since most stuff sucks dick when trying to scale to "half pixel" size, e.g. 125%, 150%
Ok, overpriced, under specced, botnet bullshit
But that is a god tier screen.
I wish there were more glossy panels around. Especially on 144hz gaming screens. At least semi glossy like the 144hz IPS/VA panels. I prefer TN for gaming though and they're all grainy as fuck.

the truth cuestion its, its has SD card reader?
>>57289694
I took some time to understand the joke, but holy fucking shit, kill yourself asap
We basically realised there is no real reason to restrict pixel density - so we just started with the Surface Pro 1 to show pixel density doesn't matter and we can add more detail.
Also encourages people to make more high resolution images etc, but they're all high end pieces of hardware and are powerful.
Thankfully Intel has been doing low power chips which has enabled this and for everything to be so small, along with arm and the anniversary update.
Integration is happening slowly, but to answer your question, custom hardware. A surface monitor - if you want the monitor buy the hardware.
>>57289694

you REALLY should kill yourelf for making this joke, like really

Nice
>apple decides to add touchscreen/drawing to their displays
>REVOLUTIONARY
>M$ gets btfo'd again
I don't get why they even try anymore
>>57289391
I wonder how that thing is meant to be used with art.
I have the Cintiq 13HD and I rest my hands and arms on it constantly.
The stand is basically a locking 3 position thing, which can take a ton of weight. It won't move when you have set it in one position.
My bro has the Cintiq 22HD and that thing is sturdy as fuck and you can basically lean on it without it moving an inch.
This surface thing looks like the only position for you to draw with it, is to lay it down to the lowest position, hunch over it and then draw on it.
Which would murder the fuck out of my back if I had to do that for multiple hours.
Sure it can be set on a "top" position and it can be scribbled on, but there's no way in hell you can put any weight on this, without it starting to slide down to the low position.

>>57289694
Jesus Christ.
>>57290201
>I like put my arm on it and drew and it didn't move.
Yeah, that doesn't really say anything.
I'm sure it feels sturdy enough in the shop, but using it in your home when you're not afraid to get "rough" with the damn thing, it's probably a whole different story.
Not to mention with time, that kind of a higne will lose it's resistance.
Pic related would have instantly solved any problems and questions regarding the sagging.
>>57289694
>>57290284
The thing is Why does it move so easily with one finger but doesn't move when you put your arm on the screen? Some kind of locking mechanism only move when you apply forces to the top or the bottom?
>>57289694
it gets funnier
>>57289391
that monitor gives me huge boners.
they NEED to make that standalone so i can lust after it for 10 years
>>57290547
Because it's already collapsed, you moron.
>>57290103
Lol how the fuck did Microsoft out Apple Apple?
Oh thats right because apple didnt have time to copy someone elses design and pass it off as their own
>>57290613
Read the quote before reply retard. In the video He said it doesn't move in middle position
>>57289694
>still using tracer t in 2016

That's because you live in your parent's basement and never use computers in anything but pitch black conditions.

dood
fucking crapple ripping shit off
Microsoft is the only companies that gives a shit about proper aspect ratios
>>57289694
That's pretty good, my dude
When will they update the SKU with a 1070?
The 1070 is double the performance of a 980m with the same TDP.
>>57289694
>>57289840

Depreciated. Unacceptable on a 2016 machine.
>>57289840

Apple trash design/10
>>57292738
Ya cause so many things use USB-C that you would plug into the motherboard
>>57289694
God Damn Anon
>>57289694
I don't get it.
>>57293170
Look at the 6th line
>>57293197
Oh I only just notices the post he replied to. Heh.
>>57292759
Well I think it's kinda logical you can't put them in the front panel because then they'd be blocked in the 'drawing mode'.
>>57289694

B-but m-muh adapters...
4500*3000 = 96.254.205.0
which is an invalid IP address.import struct
import socket
socket.inet_ntoa(struct.pack("<I", 4500*3000))
The block 96.224.0.0/11 however belongs to Verizon.

cant wait to install arch linux on this machine. oi boi

I'm willing to bet that the touchscreen drivers will require a custom-compiled kernel again (like it always was with everything Surface labeled)
>>57289694
taking a place in screencap
>>57295691
does stock Linux kernel even support anything touch related. Or ""new""
>980m
Why not Pascal?
I still remember how amazing my 4:3 Compaq laptop was
the 16:9 trend was and is stupid for anything working related

ok i kek'd

Some one explain pls. I dont get it
All the computer components are in the base of the thing right? Would it be possible to just replace all the parts and connect it to the surface studio's monitor?
>tfw you already know you're going to be too broke to buy the new Surface Book 2 when it releases next year
fuck being a broke college student sucks.
>>57292759

I haven't been here since it was announced.
This looks pretty fucking awesome, right? or am I out of touch? do we hate it? to me it seems like it beat apple at its game
>>57298767
It looks pretty awesome. I'd get it, but I'm not a digital artist so I really have no justification for it. Looks like it's going to be a very neat tool for them though.
>>57292759
>>57293229
The sides AND the front are flush with the hinge parts when it's down.
>>57298875
They could have put at least the SD card and a USB port on the side of the monitor
>>57298927
Not with how thin it is. Not much actual space in there for anything beyond the panels.
meh, my 4k 60hz tv does the job
>>57298401
it pretty much shows where his connection goes through, i.e. he shows us his ip.
He lives in Decatur,Illinois and his isp is at&t
>>57299020
For video, yeah.
2:3 is much better for work. it's also higher resolution than 4k
Windoze shit
>>57299188
*3:2
>>57298966
also you probably wouldn't want anything floating around with the monitor as you tilt and move it. and a USB peripheral of proper length when the monitor is flat against the table might get dragged along when the monitor is upright.
this isn't complicated stuff, guys. think for more than like 1 minute.
The specs are so shit but I really would like a proper monitor of that size which isn't 16:9 crap. Would be great if you could use it as a monitor, like the old iMac
>>57289391
Any chance MS releases a non-touch version of just the monitor without the computer base? I'd pay $1500 for a 3:2 hi res display like that.
>>57289694
The best part is he posted his own IP.
>>57299966
zero
