it's a programmable anykey model. it's not mechanical if that's what you're wondering. I can reprogram any key to function as any other key on the board, as well as program macros onto single keys, which is what the F-keys on the left are generally meant for. it has built-in macros for the diagonal arrow keys, which function the same as pushing both associated horizontal/vertical keys simultaneously. I have no idea what the blank button in the center of them is set to, maybe space?

desu that's only half the reason I bought it, the other half is the aesthetic.

MX Reds or Green?

I've only used razer greens which is just MX blues, they were alright I guess but had double tap issues eventually that made them useless for gaming. Not even hundered percent as I don't really care about mechanical keyboards, but I kind of want a smaller one

Reds are linear (no click/bump at all) and very light.
Greens are similar to what you had before, but heavier.

Pick whichever appeals to you most.
>>
>>57256621
This is worse than buying a phone, I have a keyboard test kit, the reds seem nice since it's silent with no blump

too many damned choices
>>
>>57256651
I went for browns, because babby's first switch. A friend of mine went with reds, and I have used Razer greens (Cherry blue clone) as well.
I personally like the tactile feedback (bump or click) and frequently make typos on reds. Probably a matter of getting used to it though.

Another option would be blacks, since they're just heavier reds. Just as smooth, quiet and no bump, but a bit more force needed to get them to activate.
>>

Oh I wasn't referring to the muscle memory issues this brings about. Since I can't rearrange the the order of those four keys, it throws off my ability to input keyboard shortcuts without looking down. I'll try to explain it better.

The layout of the bottom row of my MacBook keyboard (left to right) goes
>FN, CTRL, OPT, CMD, space, CMD, OPT

With Karabiner I could reassign the key order of my external keyboard so they matched my MacBook. This means it would be practically identical to type on my MacBook and my external keyboard.

Without Karabiner, the order of the bottom row of my external keyboard now goes
>CTRL, CMD, OPT, space, OPT, CMD, FN, CTRL

I need to be able to flip the CMD (Windows) and OPT (Alt) keys on my external keyboard so I don't keep fucking up my shortcuts. Unfortunately I can't do that while the key binding programs are broken.

PBT is a denser and tougher plastic than ABS. PBT feels "meatier" in use, if that makes any sense. Bottoming out is less jarring. The keycap texturing also doesn't wear off so the caps don't turn all shiny like ABS does. Also white/beige PBT doesn't turn piss yellow with age.

bought a razer blackwidow (non chroma) off a mate a while ago for $60
looking at changing it soon-ish, because looking at a quieter keyboard. nothing wrong with some clicky, but I'd like a quiet one too.
anyone know of any cherry-red-tier keyboards that are relatively cheap? backlight colours don't matter as I can just change my setup LEDs to match
>>
>>57259570
With clicky cherry-style switches yes.
With other cherry-style switches maybe.
With Matias quiet click switches definitely not.

I posted this last week, but a client threw this out at my job (a data center) and I couldn't just let that happen.

It's in perfect working order, but it's a terminal keyboard, so I had to rig up some shenanigans to get it to work on a modern computer. I wonder if my buddy hates how loud it is.

If those are the stock caps, I'd consider getting a replacement set. The stock caps for my Das 4 were shitty super thin ABS, and coincidentally, my spacebar just cracked and broke.

Speaking of, anyone know where I can buy a decent PBT cherry-like profile spacebar by itself?

And they said it couldn't be done on a corsair

6 keys are the wrong size or from different sets because those fuckers at pimpmykeyboard sent me 6 less caps than I ordered and I'm waiting on the replacement set of 10 they've got in the mail right now.

In retrospect, I wouldn't recommend anyone get a corsair because of the nonstandard bottom row, but you can still get caps for it if you're determined.

Is there a pattern this is called? Apart from the Ducky logo those look just like the Tai Hao PBT doubleshot sets, and lots of others besides.

Also I bought a set of just-mentioned Tao Hao PBT Doubleshots. They have some kind of coating that people remove. Why does Tai-Hao coat caps?

mine (the red caps) uses a standard 6, you just have to make a tiny modification to the actual cap and it will fit just fine.

What I did was remove all the portions in red with an x-acto knife being careful to leave the outermost bracket intact, if you do it correctly it will latch the outside portion of the bracket on the keycap to the inside portion of the stabilizer.

I am considering getting a 6.5 just for an exact fit, but since PMK isn't selling any 6.5s in the color code I like I'll probably just keep the 6.
>>
>>57263772
yeah it's deliberate, i saw others doing it and tried it out. seems more comfortable as it bring the spacebar that little bit closer to my thumbs.

That pattern is classic and its dye-sub PBT not doubleshot. The nice thing about dyesub is that the dye is burned into the keycap becoming a permenant part of it. It also has the nice effect that you cant feel the printing.
I wouldnt recommend taihao doubleshot because of the sticky coating they use

Thanks. I've been reading about the coating. Just about all the group buys request that Tai Hao withhold it, but they keep pushing it hard, even refusing to sell some sets without the coating. Nobody wants the coating despite Tai Hao's insistence.

Luckily it seems to come off with an alcohol dip so that's probably what I'll do right off the bat.

OG Razer Widow

Please, I just want something kind of quiet that feels good to press. I hear clears are pretty quiet, but I hear they aren't as satisfying to press as Blues. I also prefer to have the keys labeled on the sides rather than the tops because fingers and all.

Please help me.

You're not going to get a backlit keyboard with side printed caps (stock), just saiyan. That said you could probably find a PBT set and slap it onto this. Also, clears are considerably more tactile than blues/greens.

>>

There aren't any that I can think of that come with clears & side printed caps stock (may just be not remembering some). You could buy a side printed thick PBT set and put it on whatever board you like.
>>
>>57253614
what keyboard is this?
>>
>>57273143
Here is my problem with WASD. Their bare bones keyboards are actually pretty good. The problem however is that they use one of the worst keycaps you can get. Ducky sells backlight keyboards with clears for less and has better build quality. Ducky's doubleshot ABS is on another level compared to the laser etched keycaps that wasd uses. If you want one then buy it without the keycpas then get some better ones for like 20-30 bucks off massdrop or ebay

How are gateron keycaps? I'm tired of the feeling of my shiny keycaps and I've decided to fall for the PBT meme. Two small problems though, my keyboard is 108 keys and most keycap sets absolutely hideous, expensive, or both so I'm considering getting this blank set.

Gateron are one of the few companies that make cherry profile PBT the others being NPKC and Vortex and they are all pretty good. Cherry keys have a lower profile compared to the OEMs on what I'm guessing is either a Ducky or a re-branded Ducky.
If you don't like the extra 4 keys over the num pad you could cover them up
