How long do these things normally last? I feel like they die randomly on me all the time.

My sd card works flawlessly 8 years if I well remember the year of buying it. It's slow but works

I dont think I've ever had one die on me, ive been given dead ones, but never killed one myself. Never been able to fix a dead one, often a hardware failure.

Had a SanDisk one thats 5 years old and still working and had a Samsung one that lasted 2 month.
Quality of these things is wildly inconsistent

Deleted it.
Put it on again.
Deleted it.

That mixed with putting on multiple animes and deleting them I couldnt change anything in the card no matter what I did
