I know C and Java on a decent level, I can read C++. I'm doing Lua on and off. I recently discovered rust, but dunno if I'll actually ever use it. Currently loving procedural/structural imperative programming and hating OOP.
I'd like to learn a functional language. What would you recommend and why?
PHP is useful if you're into web development. I do database work so naturally I like it.
Shell scripting is ALWAYS a great thing to learn too.

Common Lisp to piss Scheme/Racket fans off, or Guile (also a Lisp) to piss off Haskell fags.

Technically scheme is more functional than CL. And scheme shouldn't even properly be considered a functional language. Its a language that comes close though.
Still OP should learn CL

Wow great argument there. You sure showed me.
