So I recently destroyed my nexus 6p and now have to find a replacement when I really wasn't planning on upgrading.

Right now I'm torn between the pixel and the lg v20. I'm not particularly in love with either phone, I do much prefer stock android so obviously that's a big draw but the pixel just doesn't seem to have same amount of features as the v20. I've also heard terrible things about lg and the color reproduction is laughably bad on the v20 and shit like that really gets to me.

I could go buy a fucking samshit phone but I don't want to on principle and I bloated fucking touchwiz skin.

So what the fuck should I do, just go with the pixel? I'll probably just get the smaller one because the XL is fucking overpriced.

Just shattered my Nexus 6 screen, sucks because since the 7.0 update it's actually been enjoyable to use again.

It's gonna cost $150 for an insurance replacement, value of the phone is probably like $200 used, but really don't see any phones out there that hit the checkbox for me, at least on Verizon.

The Pixel XL is too expensive and doesn't have wireless charging.

The V20 is the closest, doesn't have wireless charging but apparently there is hope they'll have different covers. Also a bit worried about LG's quality, already reports of the lens glass breaking. Though right now there's a $200 gift card deal at Best Buy and free B&O headphones, so it's pretty affordable.

Besides, "stock" android isn't actually "stock". It's android + google. I don't mean to go on a GNU + Linux rant but there's a pretty big difference for anyone who loads up an actual stock device and something with google services on it.
>>
>>57221804
I think a lot of people find the skins that manufacturers drape over the interface to be needlessly counter-intuitive, clunky and offensive. This was actually something I always disliked about my HTC and Samsung phones, but I never realized that it wasn't an Android problem until I picked up a Blackberry Priv. Stock seems almost spartan at first, but what's nice is that you can customize to your heart's content, and the spartan interface doesn't really get in your way.
>>

>>
>>57221955
>Is there like a definition for stock Android?
Stock Android = AOSP.
Anything more is Stock Android + [software producer]. So with the Pixel and Nexus phones, they were Stock Android + Google, or just for short you can call them Stock Google. Other manufacturers like HTC and Samsung would basically be known as Stock Android + HTC/Samsung, but instead they came up with their own branding - Sense and Touchwiz respectively.

I mean, people are even misusing "bloat". What is found on pixel devices is "bloat" - but it's positive bloat. People eat google shit up (not just talking about GPServices). People only hate bloat when it slows down their system noticeably or if there's some internet mob against it (ie carrier apps).

The camera itself is great, but I need to quickly be able to take pictures without woryring too much about focusing and steadiness. The LE max 2 has ois/dis but the battery life is much better in the pro 3 as well as addition of the snapdragon 821, it's a little more future proof, so I'm quite torn.

I've had a Galaxy S5 for almost two years now and it's been a consistently buggy pos. I had two friends with the same model, on the same carrier (Verizon), living in the same area for comparison, and none of these issues presented on their phones.

I have always struggled painfully with battery life, all settings off or lowered but still running out of battery at a time where consistent, high intensity use in my friends' phones left them with battery to spare. I believe wakelock issues were a large culprit, but even head to head usage with games showed much faster drain on my phone.

Over the past few months it's become nearly unusable with network issues. It will arbitrarily decide it is not receiving network signal until it is restarted. When it is properly receiving signal apps act as though they are disconnected when the screen is locked. Eg: messages do not forward until I open the app manually, and music streaming services will stop loading content until I open the phone.

What can I do to diagnose these errors? Any help would be appreciated. Running Marshmallow but these errors were present prior to upgrading. (Also I've done a few factory resets)

I'm a blackberry fag going on 8 years now but I'm at the breaking point with how shitty the BB Classic is, and I'm looking to jump ship to another phone even if it has no keyboard. What's a decent cheap android phone? I'm told Nexus 5x is a good one if I want to develop for android, but it doesn't look like it has a microSD slot or removable battery. Are there any other models which would be good? I'd like to pay 200 or less if possible, and don't care if I get a used model. MicroSD and easily replaced battery are valuable features for me though.

Anyone here with a unrooted RN3P on MIUI? I'm trying to figure out if and how my redmeme is killing my microSD cards. One possibility I'm thinking is from installing this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.asus.filemanager&hl=en (my last phone was a Zenfone, and I liked the file manager app) and enabling the Documents app to allow access to the sd card.

Maybe someone could help test this out to see if it actually corrupts the SD card. For me it took a couple days to a week. I'm out of cards so I can't investigate it anymore myself.

No. The only compatible CDMA phones besides Verizon phones that will work on their network are iPhones, Nexus and the Moto X Pure Edition. >>57234261
Bootlooping is a threat for the V10. There have only been like 2 reports for the g5 so chalk that up to an anomaly. Hundreds for the V10 though. Shame, I really wanted that phone.

Something you should know about the G5 though is that the GPS has some issues

And yet I have the dilemma of wanting to enable tiny things that need you to root.

I assume there is no way to make these small edits via adb/fastboot/whatever without rooting the device?

I have already probed around and basically answered my own question with this, but I wonder if there's more floating around before closing the book.

Don't worry this memory effect thing or how it's called isn't a issue anymore you'll get a new phone before that shit.
Anyway just don't overcharge it for hours and charge it before hitting 0%.

More great hardware ruined by poor software. The story of most Android phones. It's getting old at this point. Google failed to end fragmentation despite their promises, and the Pixel is under performing. Apple is just gonna have a ball next year at this rate. A ball, I tell you.

>>
What are some good phone carriers I should be looking into or bad ones I should be avoiding?
>>
>>57236851
Those applications that promise to help you save battery by closing useless stuff. Some sites recommend some and tell you that they help but other places say they're useless and you're better off without one so I have no idea what to think

My phone's motherboard broke.
I changed it for another one, now I ccan't access the play store.
Internet is fine.
Everything is fin3, just no access to botnet.
I need my discord and whatsapp.
What do?
I can't even post images.
It must be infected or something and I REALLY need the Android phone features back to work.

What apps did you install recently
Did you download some shota from sketchy websites

Anon I've had all 4 major carriers. Verizon had best coverage but they cuck you with extra fees and expensive coverage. T-Mobile is what I've been with for 3 years now, god tier and cheap. Sprint was slow as shit and Unemployment line tier. At&t was shit in general
>>
>>57236968
>I'm sorry for you
Well, that's where it's launching and that's why people are talking. It's sort of a big deal
>>
>>57236974
T-Mobile One kills T-Mobile. Verizon has the best coverage but is really expensive. Sprint is fine where I live so I guess I'm a bit bias. Never used AT&T so idk
>>
>>57236968
my old phone's motherboard has become a broken mess.
Fragmented graphics and slurry screen all over the place.
The new one got a factory reset and I wiped the cache.
The other phone is strange, it belonged to my brother.
All I know is, he tried to play Pokemon go in a country which was not used for.
He downloaded an apk outside google's store.

It's still pretty top tier especially on the cheap, the random chink phones that compete with it all lack some features like a headphone jack or 4k/720p120fps camera modes
>>

I don't follow the sales. The reviews simply said that it's a nexus with a huge pricehike.

Yes, and while also noting that it's not worth it.

What's wrong with T-Mobile One? It's $70 monthly for unlimited everything.

>>57236402

>>
>>57237220
"Unlimted" until 26GB. "Unlimited" with video playback limited to 480p. "Unlimited" with only 2GB of tethering.
>>
>>57237307
When have you ever hit 26GB in a month with mobile data? After that it goes to 3G anyways
>>
>>57237307
Okay, add One Plus and you get HD streaming and unlimited tethering. It brings it up to $95 per month.

Can you show me a plan that does all that for less?

Never, but they're lying to us.

>>57237342

Well I done fucked up and smashed the screen on my original Moto G. Would just buy a new screen but the headphone jack is acting up too, so I'm in the market for a sub $250 GSM phone. US LTE a must, B12 preferred. NFC would be nice, too. Anything I should consider besides the Moto G4?

Pretty set on getting Lenovo P2 next (current phone is LG G4, which has too many software and hardware issues, like pretty much everything made by LG it seems).

pros
>well balanced specs (1080p, sd625, 5100mAh battery)
>good price-to-performance ratio, with no obvious huge disadvantages
>exceeds my current phone in some aspects (e.g. more RAM, lighter Android skin, bigger battery)
>is not significantly bigger in any dimensions. Has the same screen size which I like (5.5").

cons
>AMOLED may prove to be more maintenance than LCD, at least if being serious about avoiding "burn-in"
>1080p on pentile matrix may be a downgrade from IPS QHD
>it's a bit heavier, but not by much.
>the battery being sealed in is annoying (it will lose its capacity at some point, not to mention repairing the phone might be difficult too), although with this capacity it should last at least few years, before you even notice the reduced capacity of the Li-ion.
>it's Lenovo - which basically means the Android OS will be differently skinned compared to stock (still better than LG UX, I assume), not to mention the poor update track record of Lenovo (will this phone ever see Android 7.0? Maybe. Will it see Android 8.0? Almost certainly not.) Although, it has a Qualcomm SoC, so as long as the bootloader is unlockable, I would imagine Cyanogenmod support will exist (may not be an certainty though, since its a rarer device)
On a more positive note, testing friends Lenovo tab allowed me to see that Lenovo's skin is quite close to Motorola's nowadays and all their preinstalled apps I was able to disable and/or delete.
>the biggest downgrade will likely be the camera

It hasnt even been released yet, so ill have to wait for that and for some proper reviews. Hopefully my G4 wont bootloop itself before that.

Also, I'm aware that Xiaomi would be even better bang for your buck, but Xiaomi phones generally lack Band 20 which is a necessity for me.

Needed carrier support-metropcs

Needed features-at least 8mp camera, runs google cardboard well, perhaps at least a 1080p display.

Optional goodies-fingerprint scanner.

Screen-something that won't look like trash in Google cardboard.

Storage-at least 16 gig's internal.

Price-$200 or cheaper.

Thx for the help.
