I'm actually deleting Debian right now because it is impossible to get the firmware for my wireless card any more and Ubuntu apparently just werks with it. So I'll agree.

Same. My 2008 laptop has a Broadcom chip that requires the b43 firmware. Whenever I would download it, the b43 folder would be fucking empty and it would never be picked up. I used the non-free ISO, I tried installing linux-firmware-nonfree ("not found"), etc. It apparently just does not exist on the Internet now. So fuck that.

On my pc the only way to get sound worked on windows was to spend 2 days seeking them on Internet when on linux it just werks for me. One quick download when you know where are the files you need isn't a windows-tier install.

Debian is good, but nowadays it takes less time to remove bloat from *buntu than to add functionality (wifi, graphics, compositor) in Debian. Or at least it was my feeling in my laptoo.

So is this distro just complete trash now? I loved #! but moved to ubuntu after Phil quit the project.

Fedora is pretty nice after being on Arch for a year.

I like both for different reasons really. Only reason I switched is to immerse myself into the RH ecosystem.

Ubuntu is the best desktop distro since it's actually designed to be a desktop. RedHat is planning on improving Fedora to where it's more usable. If you want stability and don't mind holding off on new features, install CentOS.
