I think the real hate people have is against Microsoft, not against the language itself. If you've ever had to deal with Visual Studio shitting itself, or every Xamarin Studio update committing seppiku, you'd probably get some of the angst.

I develop in C# for my job. You can write very elegant/clean code when you understand the language above poo level. I just wish there was an open source version of WPF. It's the nicest windowing toolkit I've had to work with over the years (so long as you don't use godawful 3rd party addins like DevExpress or Telerik).

The language is probably going to be pushed to the side by the "next big thing" just like Java was. MS has a tendency to fuck over people who work with them - I'm honestly surprised WPF is still getting attention.
