How do I stop game launchers and programs from leaking all this shit into my ssd?
I download these clients to my hard drive and they fucking think they can install files on my ssd anyway.

uninstall all of your games and install a development environment, like gentoo

Listen to FPBP but don't install Gentoo
Instead Install LFS, it won't do that stupid shit and it will be the ultimate best performance

Actual answer: Install Sandboxie, then make it redirect everything into a folder on an external drive when you install something. Figure out what paths the program you want uses to dump its shit (usually AppData, Program Data, Common Files), then make a symbolic link to each (C:\Users\John\AppData\Local\Battle.net => D:\Bullshit\Battle.net\LocalAppData). Or just keep using it in the sandbox and install your games in there with it. You can also use most Blizzard games without the launcher if you're lazy.
I have the same problem and it's making me want to peel my fucking skin off.

Not OP but whenever I launch programs within Sandboxie, the performance feels sluggish. Does that affect games?

I don't think there's a tangible difference, it only intercepts some API calls for accessing files and the registry, which takes something on the order of a few milliseconds. Unlike a VM that has to translate a whole bunch of shit and emulate virtual devices, Sandboxie can use your CPU/GPU directly. I don't have any triple A game installed at the moment, but Dark Souls 3 ran fine last time I tried, with maybe a 2-3 FPS difference at MOST.
