/g/, I wanna ask a question about BCI here.

1. in a scenario where a person uploaded his/her consciousness to a computer did the consciousness transferred into a program or they just makes a copy of it?

2. Also what happened to the consciousness of the organic body once it's fully transferred into machine?

3. Considering that the now 'consciousness' becoming a data, what happens if the consciousness becomes a corrupt data?

Oh I forgot to ask another question.

How many bytes does human consciousness has?
>>
>>57212485

You must get alot of pussy huh ?

>falling for the transferrable consciousness meme
>>
>>57212464
Negro please, consciousness is metaphysical and probably exists in another dimension which we can't observe. Somehow our biological existence allows our brain to tap into that dimension. Not everything is black and white and understandable by physical laws.

>Not everything is black and white and understandable by physical laws.

Why wouldn't it be? Have any proof?

Explain gravity and why it won't reconcile with the standard model? Why is universe accelerating instead of slowing down? Where do our emotions come from? Where are our memories stored? If information is preserved, why is it when we die information is lost forever? Why do we feel grief over the loss of another even though we will eventually reach our demise?
>>
>>57214906
???

are you implying these question can never be answered with physical models?
>>
>>57214918
Yes. Science can't even create life out of thin air or explain singularity. Forget about explaining our existence and what it means to be human with a consciousness. The simple joy of listening to music and how it spiritually elevates us cannot be quantified.

>Bitch mutha fuck
seriously though this is a pretty good movie about some similar things, but doubt it can be a "copy-able" thing like its something static.
>>
>>57214942
>I don't know how something could be proven therefore no one ever will, therefore it must be magic!
>>
>>57214974
With the amount of super computers we have for mathematical calculations and models, you would think these lingering primitive questions would be a piece of cake. Some problems have no man made solutions, we need to stop being so arrogant.
>>
>>57214906
You are sad.
Give us time, plus most of your questions are plain stupid, probably you don't know shit about em.
>>
>>57214983
You're really overestimating computers.
>>
>>57212464
1. Copy, unless they want to kill you afterwards. Copies are also much safer than cut-paste.
2. It remains in the original body and continues to grow, while the copy remains static until transfered back into a body.
3. Same thing that would happen if you were to lose memory, get a stroke, change your personality, increase or decrease intelligence slightly, or just lose the ability to control parts of your body. It depends on how and where the data is corrupted. If your basic consciousness is affected (the one relevant to your survival) you'd probably die soon unless you re-learn everything you forgot. If your mind was reprogrammed beyond repair then you're fucked.
>>57212485
It's impossible to answer because it depends on the way we store it. Everyone's mind is different so everyone will have a different amount of memory. Stargate Universe had an episode where they mentioned how consciousness contains 900TB of memory, but it's a science fiction show and a personal approximation of the writer, but I assume human consciousness will have at least that much data. Which raises another concern:
If we can transfer consciousness, then we must be able to do it instantly because the mind slightly changes every 0.001 seconds and 1PB/s is slow. We would either have to risk mental corruption of the copied mind or actually freeze the person we want to copy consciousness from to reduce their brain function.

>Where do our emotions come from? Where are our memories stored? If information is preserved, why is it when we die information is lost forever? Why do we feel grief over the loss of another even though we will eventually reach our demise?
Already answered a million times. Emotions and memory are a base for our survival instinct and a product of evolution of life attempting to preserve itself so they're necessary to any complex living being. If you died, your mind would still contain information, but since it's organic it would decay and slowly destroy it.

The physics of a partially filled can of liquid rolling down an incline is to this day not fully understood.

>Explain gravity and why it won't reconcile with the standard model?
Likely due to fundamental forces we cannot yet detect. The graviton has been highly theorised, but that doesn't mean our technology is good enough to find it yet.
>Why is universe accelerating instead of slowing down?
Likely due to dark matter, which we know exists, but also know next to nothing about. We didn't fully understand the atom a hundred years ago, now we know about quarks. It is likely we will understand the acceleration of the universe more in time.
>Where do our emotions come from?
Chemicals within our brain that cause an electrical response to stimuli, in a manner that has been adapted over generations of natural selection to ensure our survival. That one is not difficult, and if you still want to know more, I suggest taking a neuroscience course.
>Where are our memories stored?
As synapse pathways in our brain. Those pathways are reinforced if you attempt to remember something repeatedly, hence learning.
>If information is preserved, why is it when we die information is lost forever?
Information is not preserved, energy is preserved. If thermodynamics tells us anything, it's that all information will eventually approach zero.
>Why do we feel grief over the loss of another even though we will eventually reach our demise?
Again, this is a genetic trait. Your questions seem all over the place; I think you need to reconcile yourself with what a physical question is and what philosophical question is. Philosophy is not about the nature of reality, it is about the experience of reality.
