I have more than $5k to spend on tech but it doesnt really interest me that much anymore.
I mean I could build a new rig with a 6 to 8 core i7, u.2 SSD and whatever. So what? I'll be able to post 10% faster.

1.2k on a cyberith, a couple of top of the line gpus, 5pc sixense, a nice hotas, and there isn't even enough left for some hydraulics to build a sim chair to have the absolute best VR setup since I already have a rift and t500rs wheel

I'd probably buy a decent gaming desktop and a few old ideapads for backups or something.

~800 on my own desktop/office space and either save/invest the rest.

If it HAD to be spent on new tech, I'd get my family some stuff.

idk, maybe some sort of i7 board, a GTX something with 1-2 Matroxes for Screens, decent sound card, and a couple SSDs?
It's clearly not a real work machine, because you need Xeons and FirePros for that.
So, I guess a bit good of an HTPC.

OS: FreeBSD or something and maybe a VM/dual-boot of Windows 10 for like other stuff -- couple games and office and studio software?
