sadly if it's not easy then it's not going to find average users. Easy being 2 mostly 1 click away from chatting with friends or organizations.

I see Skype dying out in my circle, except from some organizations, thankfully. also Jitsi isn't aimed for regular tech illiterate people so that demographic is not going to adopt it.

Signal gets a lot of crap for using google but it's the best compromise I have ever seen. It's protect you and protect others by having a more diverse demographic using it.

I tried getting people using xmpp but it never worked because people don't know why something is better.
