Why arent there good phones anymore? Whats a good rugged phone that does everything? I need one to be on android for my personal use with OBDII systems for cars but really just post and good ass phones in this thread.

>good phones
>posts shitty old "smartphone"
>does everything
>they will never again make a phone with a (landscape) slide-out keyboard
>even removable batteries are on the way out because of planned obsolescence
>custom ROMs are dying off, pretty soon you'll only be able to choose Google's botnet or Apple's botnet
>everything is now subservient to muh thinness
>>57171329
>Why
Because phones are designed for women and children
>>57171337
Hah. You must be 12. You probably don't even know who palm is.

Nigga just buy standalone scanner or the real factory computer tool.

I used to provide tech support for iPaqs, and I've owned Palm devices. They're fucking garbage compared to what we have today. Stop being a nsotalgic faggot.

Buy a Samsung Galaxy SX Active, put an OtterBox on it and install Cyanogen mod. Now you have a rugged phone that does everything.
Next time, go to either >>>/smg/ or >>>/sqt/

yes, even a 12 year old knows what a load of rubbish palm devices were.

A smartphone does so much more though than scan codes with a connected OBDII the only thing to upgrade to is a laptop. It has basically unlimited usefulness with the right software in a better form factor with more purpose.

Such as..? Reset them? Yea, bargain basement scanners can do that.

This is actually really cool and id love to have one mounted in my dash but I have a dedicated stratosphere that runs similar functions under bluetooth with obd2. I use it as a tach and speedo too for my racecar.

>he just found out about ScanGauge
You realize that reading live sensor data isn't unique to your smartphone, right? Even harbor freight scanners can do this.
>>57174096
But a smartphone can do it easily all one one screen digitally that i replaced my entire dash with in my car, literally stripped to nothing but steering column and a samsung stratosphere, which displays everything for the price of a bluetooth obd2 attatchment and cheap software and it does everything the scan tools can do and act as a visual tach and speedo at the same time.

I'm not trying to talk crap or anything. I'd love to have a legit scan tool for my car for diagnostic (the rest of my cars done have obd2 anyways) but general use a old (cheap) smartphone with software and a cheap bluetooth scan tool is more useful in general and cheaper.

at least for my specific uses I should add which is as an entire dash replacement so its a bit specific.

What you've done is absolutely retarded.
