Wtf I'm in slavland here basically and all IT stores stock thinkpads (overpriced as fuck, but they have a decent variety). Actually it's harder to find ideapads and dell inspirons here than business class notebooks. The only problem is that they also stock a lot of HP shit tier craptops because they're "cheap"...

I got two Dell Inspirons from around 2004. One of them has been running continuously almost that entire time (torrents). Still works great on mains, though the battery died long ago. Would recommend. A+++++++++

Dell has been reliable in my experience. My mom is using a fancy looking red one and she still hasn't managed to break it, that's reason enough for me to buy her another Dell when it's time to upgrade.
