Best office suite for Linux? Going to attempt to make the switch again soon. Is open office still the standard?
What's the best option for word, excel, powerpoint, and one note?

LibreOffice.
Or run MS Office in Wine.

Open Office is pretty much discontinued. LibreOffice is where its at.
Or WPS chinkshit.

I tried it today and really hated it. Only ribbon fags can like it. also:

There's also OnlyOffice (AGPLv3), somewhat decent:

gnome office is the only one not mentioned yet,
LibreOffice is the best one tho

Man that WPS suite was pretty good when it was "Kingsoft", then it went full botnet with WPS.

Latex for documents and presentations
R for importing and exporting spreadsheets

Duh.

I heard this one actually works with OOXML natively.
How does it compare to Libre?
Office 365 online is your best bet. Nothing comes close to excel, although you have plenty of options for .doc/.docx and powerpoint presentations. For OneNote use Org-Mode.

None of those are an office suite you fucking mong
After losing a week of work thanks to LibreOffice failing at .docx files, I'll say: Use the online version of Office, or Wine and Office, or anything other than that shit.

Desktop office suites are bloated trash. R and Latex are better for large projects, and online suites are better for collaborative work and quick documents.
I use Office 365 in a Windows 10 VirtualBox VM just fine. Don't use Windows for anything else.
>>57150037
libreoffce is pretty good. compatible with ms office, too. if you really want to run ms office natively, use wine.
>>57151520
Libre seems to be more 'mature', but OnlyOffice support for docx/xlsx/pptx is actually a lot better. I keep 'em both (Libre+OO) and dropped WPS recently.
>>57152086
Does libreoffice really fuck up docx?

>>57152154
In some cases, yes. Documents with complex formatting and floating elements almost always will be rendered differently on MS/Libre. Be sure to install corefonts/Calibri/etc. though, it helps a lot.

That guy has got some great tits.
Open office doesn't have the market share it used to, and I think support is dropping off too, but I could be wrong. Libre is default now.
>>57151419
Or this, if you aren't afraid of the botnet, and have nothing to hide. :^)
On the whole libre isn't that bad anymore. It just werks™, even if it's not as comfy as open office imho.
I like using Libre Office with a few things from Calligra Suite.
