zero regrets, this thing is amazing for my workflow

i think is the first time in... i don't even remember... an ipod 1G app perhaps, almost 6-8 years ago

Outside of videogames, I think the last time I actually paid for a piece of software was Windows NT 4.0

i haven't bought software in well over 15 years, the only thing i've spent money on is hardware

I have no problem compensating a dev for good, opensource sw that I use a lot. If there's a donate version, I buy it, whether on Pay Store, XDA, or whatever. Tit for tat.
>>
>>57149151
Well yeah, it's kinda hard to torrent hardware
>>
>>57148457
Protonmail in February.
>>
I did not buy any software for years
using opensource or pirating the occasional app was my way to go
also snatching uni licenses, or work serials (sysadmin privilege)

one day i saw an application to help proper my music collection
no pirated versions
10e

and i thought 'you are trying to justify such a cheap price, for an app that will save you a lot of time, but you can waste the same amount on a burger king menu any other day'

since then, i buy all my software, the same as vidya
not that it is much, because i go opensource most of the time, but i stop going torrent for 10-20e stuff

it feels good to be honest
>>
Nova launcher on android, only thing I've bought.

On a whim, I bought Pythonista on my iPad about a month ago. I think I've opened it up maybe 3 times.

I actually feel pretty alright about my Office purchase. I bought a copy of Office 2007 Ultimate for $60 during a promotional sale for students (Aptly titled "The Ultimate Steal.")

The timing was such that I qualified for a free upgrade to Office 2010; and since there was no "Ultimate" SKU I got the full blown professional version w/o the stupid non-commercial use clause they stick on the student editions. For $60 I certainly feel like I got my money's worth.

Honestly I just haven't seen any reason to replace it, as we all know the only superior suite is Office '97.

The future kind of scares me. Managing all these billing accounts is starting to be a pain. I have a feeling at some point people will just buy into Google/Apple/MS's respective ecosystems wholesale, if only so they don't have to update their billing information with dozens of service providers every time the card expires.

I think we're quickly headed towards a future where you pay your OS vendor a nominal fee to provide "everything you need." Cloud storage, an office suite, streaming music and film, etc.

I'm already seeing universities and small businesses around me buy into the Microsoft Cuckfest. With the advent of Windows 10 we have truly entered the age of "OS as a service."

I don't like the world /g/, it's a scary place. Thank god for my several terabyte stash of anime.
