Would you buy a MSI motherboard? I've heard their quality

This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

Would you buy a MSI motherboard? I've heard their quality has increased but I'm still skeptical.

Ever since I started making my own computers I've only ever used ASUS motherboards, I've never had one break on me

My ASUS laptop went to shit though after using it for a good 6 years
>>
>>57144874
I've heard no issues on high-end MSi boards. The PC-Mate ones are the one to avoid.
>>
>>57144874
ASUS or nothing. I'm still using my Sabertooth x58 from 2010 with a i7 950 3.8Ghz overclock and it's ran these 6 years flawlessly.

I had an MSI Z97 Gaming 5 for a couple of years and it was absolutely fine, although their UEFI could use some work. The Asus Maximus VIII Hero Alpha I replaced it with has a lot more options and a cleaner interface, but then maybe MSI's Z170 boards are better too.
>>
Bought the z170 SLI Plus. Buyers remorse. Wished I put it a little more money
>>

Are they that shit?

Z170 Pro here, no complaints, works well
>>
Motherboards are one area where people overpay out the ass for meme features they don't need.

Never spend more than $80-$90 for a motherboard unless you need like quad SLI or 10 PCIE lanes.
>>
Built 8+ pcs with MSI boards, 2 needed to be sent back. That's actually pretty good for motherboards desu. Both replacements worked perfectly too. I wouldn't worry about it
>>
z170a m5 here, had it for 4 months so far.

0 complaints

Change this to never spend over $180. Quality Intel ATX boards start at $100+. For AMD its a different story, $100 is the max you should spend for ATX

Just bought the Z170A SLI Plus for my build, no complaints personally. Does the job and offers good features for the price.

Only had 4 USB ports (that's my fault)
Can't install Windows 7 via USB (I guess that's kinda my fault too coz it's in the manual?)
Package C-State only goes to C3 for some reason. This is the one the pisses me off the most
>>
>>57144874
have MSI A88X-G45 GAMING works fine so far
>>
>>57146793
Skylake? Thats not just msi thats a thing on all skylake boards in an attempt to get people to go to windows 10. Something about usb drivers and legacy mode and shit like that done on purpose by intel w/ microsoft
>>
msi or asus. flip a coin on it. both top quality. any other brands are mediocre rubbish.
>>
Where do you even go for actual stats on brand QC?

I have this meme impression that Asus > Gigabyte > MSI but I have no idea where I got it or whether it's true at all

Been using a gigabyte z97p-d3 for 3 years now, no problems whatsoever but since i can find jack shit in the info regarding power delivery of this thing i am a bit scared of trying to go over 4ghz with my 4690k and 212 meme fan

The board is beautiful. True aesthetic in technological sense.

ASSus and MShitI are subtier at best.

It is.

>Can't install Windows 7 via USB (I guess that's kinda my fault too coz it's in the manual?)
It's a skylake thing. You can though, if you install the proper drivers on the installation usb.

>>57145882
Idk what he's on about but I have one build with a mate coupled to a 6500 and it runs pretty fine with no hickups.

Even with the proper drivers it still won't. I know what you mean about the drivers and such and I even have an ISO patched with it but the manual itself said that it's the motherboard limitation. Page 27 I think.

But like I said, not that big of a deal and what really REALLY pissed me off is the package c-state bullshit.

Now I'm contemplating on selling it and getting a better ASUS board but it's gonna fuck up my win10 "hardware registration" (which isn't installed but I have it just in case)
