The biggest input cost to business, especially brick and mortar shops is the cost of land/rent. Yes, Australia is at the mercy of distance but a $1500 phone makes more sense when you account for the inflation caused to keep the whole ponzi scheme going.

That $1500 price tag goes towards the store manager of $70k pa who in turn bids up the price on his 3rd investment property and we all get richer for it.
