By the way, is 40% Ram usage alright? It seems a bit high for idle activity.

Depending on your mobo it'll just downclock it to run with the slower ram, but 665 doubled is 1333 so you shouldn't be affected.

I recommend not mix and matching ram though.

40% is high for a clean reboot. Windows should take ~1.2GB, not 2.4.

Firefox has only using 555,000K at most, everything else is below that.

Post screenshot of your processes tab, sorted by RAM use. 600MB in Firefox is going to account for most of that 1.2-->2.4GB, but let's see if you have any crap in there.

i dont plan on building on this PC for long, it's beyond help i'd be better off building a new one since everything is so old, but im not rolling in dough at the moment to make that leap just yet.
