Anybody got an Intel nuc as a homeserver? What's power usage like? What do you use it for?
first question can be answered if you read the specs

No point man.
deskmini 110 has desktop cpu compatibility.

If only it was cheaper. For the same money I can get a netbook with Windows preinstalled. Or a Raspberry Pi for a fraction of the price. Both of which can handle most things you might want out of them.
The only use case I can think of for a NUC is as some kind of compact home office build server for an indie dev.
Sips power. I run some game servers virtualized on it as well as a file server to hold my anime backlog, ebooks and operating system isos.
They're good little machines if power, noise and space are a concern.

If you live in a region were electricity is expensive, a nuc can pay for itself when compared to a similarly speced pc.
I use a Gigabyte BRIX with an N3150 as a home server. The only downside is no support for 3.5" drives.

Literally a pure shit, I bought one thinking it will be comfy but not.
The motherboard crashed all the time.
A simplss BIOS/EFI flash bricked it like the oldish smartphones.
And no it's not "cooooool" to have a nuc behind his monitor!
