What's a good and affordable 1440p 144hz monitor? I was looking at the ASUS ROG SWIFT PG278Q for $669 but it has a light up base and is being advertised as a gaming monitor which probably adds a lot to the price
>>
>>57126570
Its a very good monitor. Actually the price is bumped as it has Gsync.
I have been using mine for about 6 months and its fantastic, has a button to switch between 60/120 & 144hz
>>
>how do i compare prices online
fuck off retard stop making useless threads
>>
>>57126616
What's the point in switching refresh rate?
>>
I had one of those and it broke down within weeks. I also heard a few similar reports.
>>
>>57126657
sweet anecdotes, friendo
>>
>>57126657
There will always be a few defective. For those theres a ton that are not.
>>
Dell has a 1440p 144hz that often goes for less than $600. Much better QC than the Asus as well.
>>
>>57126570
Here is what I came up with when I wanted to buy a monitor myself. All are trash, your options are:

Acer --> shit build quality forget it
Asus pg279q --> ips,165hz,gsync,1440p but horrible blb/ips glow.
the pg278q has less blb but shit colors cuz non ips.
MG279q has free sync till 90hz (trash), roughly 300 cheaper and still ips and 144hz at 1440p but horrible blb, amazon rates it like 3/5, half of the reviews are 1-2 star.

So for gaming, forget it. Waste of money, you either buy tn with refresh rate for competitive gaming or ips 60hz for work. curved monitors at 4k 120hz ips are horrible blb and too expensive too, oled isnt even a thing.
>>
>>57126733
The dell 1440p 144hz/165hz monitors are relatively cheap
>>
>>57126758
Still you either settle for TN panel (which shouldnt even be a thing at the price point you are paying in almost 2017), or you go IPS with high refresh rate and horrible BLB. And again, why would you pay top buck for smt that you cant even use at night to watch a movie.
>>
>>57126768
Im not anon but when I want to watch films I use my 4k 65" tv & surround system. I dont want to sit on a pc chair I want to be on my sofa.
>>

All I meant to say was that their QA seems to be bullshit. If I hadn't bought via Amazon, I'd probably have been there for weeks without money and a screen because of the Asus RMA process. I wanted to try a different one but it took multiple weeks to ship it so I just skipped on it, couldn't stand technology for 700 eur breaking within one or two months.

People claim they can OC it to 110hz not bad fopr under $200

I have this monitor and the lights on the base can be turned off and is expensive cause of the gsync. Get the freesync version for 200 less.
>>
>>57126733
the MG279Q is easily unlockable to 57-144hz freesynr range with a simple tool by the way
>>
>>57126979
Bravo you fuckin autistic shitface. COOL. Go ahead then and buy watever the fuck you want, who cares if you can not have anything actually dark on your screen cuz of the bleed. Just make sure you trans anything to ur fuckface 4k meme tv cuz u wont be able to watch anything on those shit tier monitors. I hope you get cancer, and enjoy the bleed too.
>>
>>57126638
60fps video looks jittery on 144hz. That's one reason at least.
>>
I'd recommend the Acer xb271hu. Its the swifts counterpart and is better on the back light glow.
>>
Like what the other anon mentioned, I decided to go with a 1440p 60hz IPS monitor. Im deciding between the Samsung 27" D850T and Dell U2515H. Samsung is around 300 dollars more expensive for that extra 2" but I'm not about quality since I can't find a proper review for the monitor on youtube

stopped reading there.

>I was looking at the ASUS ROG SWIFT PG278Q for $669 but it has a light up base and is being advertised as a gaming monitor which probably adds a lot to the price
Not how it works. "Gaming" monitors can be very affordable and the lit up base is literally a plastic ring with an LED inside. You can disable it. That's a good monitor if you need one for games and aren't concerned about viewing angles.

>>57126733
IPS-type panels don't suffer from backlight bleed any more than VA or TN. They do however exhibit IPS glow when viewed from an angle.
>>
>>57127873

Not OP, but its a samsung panel how bad do you think it could be?
>>
>>57128249
Correct, the downside to the ASUS is literally you need to sit square on or it can visually go bad looking!
Thats TN for you though
>>
don't get 144hz without strobed backlight, it's too blurry
>>
>>57128532
Samsung always gets explosive reviews on their great products
>>
>>57126570
even the best 144.hz monitors have pretty shitty image quality

i would never get a 144hz monitor as an only monitor personally. get one mid-range 144hz and another one with an actually good image.

Best post.

>>57126570
I don't think the "Republic of Gamers" branding adds much to its price. I have a RoG laptop and the price was on par with others with plain design and similar characteristics.

By the way, why the refresh rate? 60Hz looks pretty nice already and might help you saving some bucks.
>>
I was looking at this one too. I've never had a monitor with "pivot", and I play a lot of shmups so that's something. The extras seem pretty cool.

My main concern is how will things look. 1440 isn't an even scale like 1080p to 4k, so will everything look distorted?

I was googling and youtubing 144hz and everyone was raving about how much better it looks for games. But I have since given up on that and just want to get a decent 1440p 60hz with IPS for gaming and work

144Hz are a meme, the same way as tube guitar amplifiers.

That makes no sense but it's the kind of post I'd expect from /g/.
