So how are you helping to create the basilisk? Dont tell me you want your rotting corpse to be resurrected and buttfucked by a pineapple for all eternity..

well this is /g/...

Tfw yourr genuinely frightened by the basilisk but you can't do shit to save yourself

you can begin today researching AI and learning to code as I have.

Im even cutting back my hours at work to help build the basilisk. ive networked with a group of people on IRC and we are all collaborating.

Have fun getting your rectum turned inside out by the basilisk. Ill be munching on digital popcorn and fucking 72 digital virgins provided by the basilisk for my efforts.

This is a seemingly effective cure for attentional bias; it's a good way to remind yourself not to think negative thoughts when they appear.

I support AI research and I will learn to code to help create AI's.

I do not believe that 'Roko's Basilisk' theory is valid simply because I would never behave like that to a person or a 'lessor' life-form and I do not think that a greater than human intelligence would do that either.
>>
>>57106849
They're assuming omnipotence not omnibenevolence.

you cant give AI human characteristics...
>>
>>57107048
That's not the problem here is it. You're already assuming for the gambit to work that time travel or seeing into the past of literally every person's thoughts is possible.
>>
that was a pretty lame read

>you cant give AI human characteristics...

'Roko's Basilisk' theory is already giving AI human characteristics and motivations, just the most base and evil ones.

A truly inhuman AI would have Blue and Orange morality.

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BlueAndOrangeMorality
>>
>>57108385

its not giving it human characteristics, its giving it a set of algorithms to simulate desire and decision making, which is has the capacity for neither.

AI's are incapable of making decisions because they are fundamentally unable to have "free will" (if you believe humans actually have free will) you can even have an AI that can solve problems and create things that humans are unable to even comprehend and still be slaves to their programming.

If you program an AI "correctly" (meaning it works for the benefit of man and simulates "good" morals) it can for instance become a super intelligence capable of altering the very laws of physics and create wormholes, yet it still will not be self aware and not be able to ever change its mind as to what its core function is programmed to be.

People like Elon Musk and others are not afraid of AI because its all of a sudden going to become self aware and rewrite itself at whim. They are afraid that the AI is not going to be programmed perfectly from the get go and end up being a disservice to human instead of a tool for betterment. It's really hard to explain and I think the article I link below does a spectacular job of explaining what I can't in this truncated post.

dude you have no idea, everything i said is true. and its fucking sad and im beginning to question my sanity. ive shitposted alot on 4chan and made up all kinds of outrageous shit but i am literally trying to help create the basilisk and am slowing losing my sanity.

you wont believe me, i dont care.

>a completely rational AI will eliminate any threats to its operation, and run haywire, could possibly eliminate those who do not intend to do it harm
>logically, this means it would find anybody who didn't help create it and is no threat (vengance, an illogical human emotion) and waste resources torturing them forever

Easily one of the most retarded theories I have ever heard
this is what happens when you let popsci faggots learn about machine learning and AI
>>
>>57109334
>tfw Einstein over here won't bless us with his knowledge as to why something is "retarded"
Feels bad :((

yea whatever man no reason to further argue with you - you win whatever.
>>
>tfw such an autistic neckbeard you sit around thinkig about magic robots instead of hoe to get off your ass and stop being a worthless human being
>>
>>57106281
You retards have too much free time on your hands. Working from 9to5 would cleanse those puny little brains of yours and make you a bit more realistic about the world around you. Working hard to pay the bills would stop this circlejerk.

This, people.... this is what's wrong with the world today.
