is there a reason why a smart phone cannot send texts to someone with a non smartphone?
>>
GENTOO
>>
No. they can.
>>
>>57106271
but they never receive my messages
I seen it in action. and they can receive others. what can I check?
>>
>>57106335

Did the person ever have an iPhone?

If the person that cannot receive messages previously had an iPhone and then changed to a non-iPhone, it's a problem with iMessage being used in the past. They would have to disable iMessage on their Apple account in order for it to work again. Well, that is unless Apple have fixed it as this problem is quite old now.
>>
>>57106603
oh snap. how I can we fix this if she doesn't have a pc anymore, nor do I
>>
>>57106638
>hold on message
>send as text message

If not settings turn off Imessage

He's sending messages from an android phone. It isn't going anywhere near iMessage.
>>
>>57106780

Did you even read the page you asshole? Read Apple's own page or read this post >>57106603
>>
>>57106791
The apple page clearly states it's an issue with receiving messages from someone with an iPhone man.

>If you're not getting SMS or text messages from someone with an iPhone, or you can't send SMS or text messages to someone who used to have an iPhone, learn what to do

>or you can't send SMS or text messages to someone who used to have an iPhone, learn what to do

Read that last part again genius:

>or you can't send SMS or text messages to someone who used to have an iPhone, learn what to do

Reading is difficult, eh?
>>
>>57106853
I'm not sure how you think iMessage is intercepting the SMS messages op is sending from his android device.

The article is talking about sending messages to someone from your IPHONE. The IPHONE would still be trying to send an iMessage. In which case the measures on the article would actually be relevant.
>>
>>57106895

Oh FFS you are FUCKING DENSE. It's right fucking there as a problem on APPLE'S OWN SITE. It mentions if you have an iPhone and are having issues sending OR, *OR* if you cannot send to someone that USED TO have an iPhone.

>*or* you can't send SMS or text messages to someone who **used to** have an iPhone, learn what to do

Do you see the word "OR"?

>or you can't send SMS or text messages to someone who used to have an iPhone, learn what to do

I guess they should have spelled it out for your dumbass but it is not implied in this case that you are using an iPhone in the second example.
>>
>>57106947
I know what I'm reading, luckily I can read well enough to know what context it's in.

If you're sending messages from an iPhone to someone who previously used iMessage it will try sending them as iMessages unless you turn iMessage off in settings, or the receiver deregistwrs their number from iMessage.

Op is not using an iPhone, so the page is irrelevant.
>>
>>57106895

Forget iPhones you fucking mong. Just forget iPhones at this very minute. We're not interested in iPhones now, ok? The problem is iMessage. If iMessage was not disabled prior to swapping phones, the problem will occur *IF* the person that DID have the iPhone had any of the current contacts with the SMS issue in their address book (and thus, going through iMessage at Apple's end).

The issue is, if the contact that is trying to text you is on your iMessage contacts list, iMessage is still gobbling up the message when it comes in and then gets sent nowhere (as the person does not have an Apple device to receive it with), therefore no text message. iMessage has to be disabled in order for normal SMS functionality to resume. It doesn't matter if it is an iPhone or Android etc.

You seem to think that someone MUST be using an iPhone. The Apple site doesn't assume this in the second example:

>or you can't send SMS or text messages to someone who used to have an iPhone, learn what to do

I know because I have personally had this issue before. Same as OP described. So no, the page is not irrelevant. You are.

Get fucked.

iMessage only takes messages sent from iMessage devices. The phone number is simply an address for apples system.

>instead of

You seem to be confused as to how iMessage works.
>>
>>57106249
I don't know, but I often get an empty message that reads [page] instead of an actual text message on my old flip phone (2011 Casio). I can receive picture and group messages and the like. I have no idea what causes this.
>>
itt: icucks prove just how retarded they are

my mom uses an old flip phone, she never had an iphone or a smart phone, and she had the same problem. some text messages simply won't go through.
>>
>>57107253
Yes, so I message is not the problem like i said.

Never been more glad I started buying phones that run Android 5 years ago instead of iOS
