Windows has Cortana now
OSX has Siri
Why doesn't Linux have Google voice?
>>
>>57105049
Linux is not an OS, so it's possible that it is the reason.
>>
Google doesn't own linux
>>
>>57105049
you shouldn't browse /g/ if you're mentally ill
>>
>>57105113
Linux is os faggot

Linux can work without gnu

Gnu can not work without linux
>>
The Linux Foundation does not own Google Voice. Nor do Canonical, Novell, Redhat...
>>
>>57105201
is it bait?
>>
>>57105049
Linux has google assistant though. Checkmate.
>>
>>57105049
hi nsa
>>
Meh, I coded an voice assistant once. It didn't code very well and I had to shout all of my porn searches loud enough for the neighbors to hear it. It wasn't worth the effort.
>>
>>57105049
botnet
>>
>>57105049
Neckbeards can't enunciate properly enough to make use of it
>>

>falling for the voice assistant bother meme

Literally not a single legitimate use case for a voice assistant, especially one with so many hooks into your OS like Cortana or Siri
>>
>>57105768
Yup.
>>
>>57109855
Useful on the phone when you want to schedule a meeting or something while driving or whatever but I can't imagine needing an assistant while at the computer.
>>
>>57105049
>Why don't you want to install this handy tool that records everything that is said in the room the computer is in and streams that to our servers for analyzing? We won't use the data collected in any way to violate your privacy, we promise
Gee, I wonder why

>Why doesn't Linux have Google voice?
Because Google has nothing to do with Linux. And none of their services are open source. Linux should have its own speech recognition and AI apps.
>>
there's mycroft
but does anyone actually use voice assistants?
>>
>>57105049
Because freetards are incapable of coming up with things that actually work.
>>
>>57105113
Protip: it doesn't fucking matter
>>
>>57105049

Why would you want spyware in your OS?
>>
Because noone uses that shit.
>>
>>57110189
>AOSP
>Android open source project
>>
because Linux users dont struggle with using keyboards
>>
>>57105049
>Why doesn't Linux have Google voice?
Why do you want linux to have google voice instead of stallman voice?
>>
>>57105049
It's just a gimmick to make normies think they're in the future talking to their computa like they saw in movies.
>>
>>57105049
> Google voice built into the kernel
That seems so incredibly bloaty but at the same time feels Sci-Fi as fuck.
>>
Do people actually use voice assistants? For what purpose? The only time I've ever used SIRI was to control my iPhone when the screen broke and it was still pretty uncomfortable and inefficient.
>>
>>57112390
Did you asked her to vibrate on your cock?
>>
>>57105049
Because it's hosted on remote servers and not locally, and source is closed. Give us a local AI and we'll use it.
>>
They're all shit
>>
>>57112390
For now they're mostly shit, except for agenda use where they're much faster than having to open the agenda, pick a day and hour, type something...

But down the line when they're more efficient, clearly you'll see a use in them. They're like your very own slave, removing the need for GUI and other traditional HMI, leaving only voice.

it's better on all points except you're shouting it all to people around you, but that aside, there's great potential in it, and I can't wait for it myself.
>>
you're comparing a kernel with desktop environments
>>
>>57105049
Androis is linux and android has google voice. Voice in a computer is uterly useless tho. The human brain can process writen information up to 20x faster than the maximum speed of understandable speach.
>>
>>57113169
it's only potentially useful on devices like phones which have shitty little touch keyboards
>>
>>57105049

Because the linux community forsook any good tidings Google brought them back when they tried to dictate how android shit got branched.

Google took their ball home years ago, anon.
>>
>>57112587

Are those video drivers open too?
>>
>>57105049

I turned off Siri and would like to turn off Cortana, though I really can't. I, for one, don't want any of that shit. I like that Linux doesn't have it.
