How safe is Aptoide? I'm planning to go GAPPS-free, and I want to be able to download and update certain apps easily on-device, instead of downloading them on my computer and transferring them, like with Raccoon.
I'm going to have F-Droid for the FOSS apps, alright, but I don't want to give up proprietary software fully.

Not for pirating purposes, mind you, but as a replacement store.

Use XDA Labs. You can download pretty much everything from there.
Aptoide works great as a replacement store.
For pirated apps create your own aptoide repository and get the patched apks from mobilism.
For free apps that are verified safe on aptoide you can just install it from any repository.

Thank you. I'll give the XDA Labs thing a try, too.

I'm also interested in this. Right now I am using fdroid and apktrack (for other apps).
Just installed F-Droid and it looks OK. It even has a MiXplorer repository. How safe is it?
Used to use it but a lot of apps were very shaddy and it gave me weird versions for updates or stuff that shouldn't be updated. It's okay to download paid version of apps tho.
I switched over to Apkpure app and this does the job well enough for me.

Thanks I switched to apkpure. Seems nice and they claim that their apps are 100% ripped from play store. Can I make the update work on demand though?
