Is there any reason to use FAT32 over NTFS on an external USB flash drive in 2016? I remember OS compatibility being one reason years back, but Linux seems to handle NTFS drives just fine now.

i couldnt boot ubuntu from usb untill i formatted the usb to fat 32

you heard wrong, linux wont be able to do fuck all with ntfs unless you install some stupid fucking package to handle it. that goes for exfat as well

Doesn't Ubuntu come with ntfs-3g?

Never had a problem with NTFS drives on with Linux.

False, it just werks on Debian stable. The only problem is OSX not supporting it because fuck 'em.

NTFS has had a in kernel driver for fucking ages. Try again Pajeet
I have the newest rev of GalliumOS running on chromebook Peppy and my NTFS external drives don't work by default, so it might be hit and miss still.

I did it on Kubuntu a few weeks ago, without even thinking about it.

i have a host machine with windows7 (ntfs) and i run linux on it. linux is just fine with ntfs

Because there are a shitton of devices that reads USB and knows nothing but FAT32
But if you dont use such devices, or OSX then you can do whatever the fuck you want

You only need the package for stuff like mkfs.ntfs not for reading from or writing files to it. And many distros ship with it anyway.

Me too, but i still tend to avoid them as NTFS-3G is still an unofficial reverse-engineered thing.
Why you post a photo of Rebecca Black?
