What does /g/ think about Nylas? It's a FOSS multiplatform email client with extension support.
Is it a good successor to Thunderbird?
>server side email sync
lol

It's not 2004, you don't need an e-mail client.
>>57091541
e-mail clients are far superior to webmail.
Webmail doesn't send you notifications, and you can store the mails locally, optimizing search and retrieval time immensely.
"client" aka mobile app, which everyone using Windows 10, or literally any smartphone, has access to.

webmail is shit
Also, enjoy having to go to 5 different websites all the fucking time if you have multiple emails
or even just the fact that you'd need to log out and log in all the time already sounds tedious

These people are seriously mentally fucking handicapped if they think anyone with an IQ above 55 is going to
- pay money for a fucking email client
- entrust all their personal emails to a faceless company and put all their data on their servers
How the fuck is this any competition to Thunderbird in any way. This is just stupid.

Welcome to Freetardistan! The land where anything goes because we're all batshit insane and delusional!

>Is it a good successor to Thunderbird?
No, its completely different to Thunderbird. It requires a server instance of it to be running, they offer a paid service to host it themselves.
Thunderbird <---> Email Server
Nylas Desktop <---> Nylas Server <---> Email Server
This allows a bunch of features that are not available through imap/smtp, like 'send later'.
If only they had a standard imap/smtp mode so that you could bypass the whole second server sided stuff if you wanted to, because their is actually pretty nice.

They do offer a paid service where they host the server sided stuff for you.
But you can go on their github, build it yourself and then host it yourself... Or don't tell me you are too technically incompetent to be able to do that.
