ITT: Linux web browsers ruining my life.
Guys. I recently started "doing Linux" full time. It's worked great for about a week. Now I'm seeing issues and I'm just wondering wtf I am doing wrong:
1. Midori
I fucking loved Midori so far. Then i installed the add on fro blocking javascript. Needless to say nothing works now. I disabled the addon, still blocking js. I uninstalled and then reinstalled Midori (using apt-get remove / install) and it's still not working. Is there any way to completely blow it out so that i start from scratch?
2. Firefox
When Midori was fucking me around I jumped on Firefox. For whatever te fucking reason, there is some kind of theme or something installed so that all text boxes are black and the text i enter into the boxes are also black. When i hoover over shit, the hover box is black and the text is also black. Wtf did i do? I haven't fucked with any themes or system apperence settings at all. Also tried apt-get remove and install with terminal.
>>using Kubuntu 16.whateverthefuck
>>Plasma
>>have only installed a few things from apt-get, no customization yet
Am i just retarded? Should i wipe and use something else like Lubuntu or Mint or Mate or Cinnimon or some other shit i keep seeing on here?
Any tips would be appreciated. Otherwise, just post pics or stories of Linux fucking up, it would help me feel better about my retardedness.
firefox gets appearance from gtk3 (or 2)
change your gtk theme to adwaita

System Settings -> Application Style -> GNOME Application Style (GTK)
Try different GTK3 Theme there.

Firefox craps itself if you're using a dark gtk theme unless you explicitly tell it not to by overriding those styles with stylish or some other method.

THANK YOU

use gnome.not joking.
>>57073526
Use qupzilla if you're using KDE, 4chanx works on it
The kernel has nothing to do with those.

But linux is a complete OS, anon

>KDE
C'mon pal... That's now how you do Linux.

I-i-it i-i-isn't, A-a-aanon??
So what, do I just blow the whole thing out and start over with Lubuntu or something?

Btw this isnt me trying to be sarcastic, honestly do you think this is all because of KDE and another DE would be better for me to try?

Gnome is the most popular so it has the least compatibility issues, but I haven't had many problems with Cinnamon or XFCE. I only use Cinnamon on my desktop because XFCE doesn't work well with 4k monitors. I found KDE having different basic programs really annoying.

Nah.
Make sure you dig into your system folders for any trace of Midori files. Just search "Midori". Delete the folder(s) then reinstall and try installing the addon again.
If you like KDE, by all means use it. It does not get a lot of /g/ love at all.

GNOME looks like TRASH though.
The problem with Midori is probably your settings, which are in your personal folder, and probably didn't get removed.
Go into Dolphin, find the option in the menus to show hidden folders. You'll have a bunch of files and folders, look for anything like .midori and delete it. Look in the generic sounding folders too, like .config
