"For €2,190 (£2,000/$2,400), the Italian company PrimaLuce will sell you a Nikon D5500 DSLR with a dual-Peltier cooler strapped to the back, called the Nikon D5500a Cooled. In addition to the cooler, the modified camera also switches out the standard low-pass filter in front of the sensor for something that is specially tuned to be more sensitive to astronomical wavelengths of light (specifically H-alpha deep red)."

Why don't you buy one /g/?

Uh, why? Is this supposed to be FLIR or something?
Is it also monochrome (without bayer filter array)?
>>57073503
I believe cooled DSLRs are used to make astronomy pictures, it's a way to reduce the heat noise from very long exposures.

>italian
No.
>implying a old and modified makes not equally good astronomy pictures
It's not like I'm NaSA or something

nikon housefires
>>57073629
this, and cameras without adequate cooling will have the sensors fail.
>>57073658
NASA are the kings of old and modified.
>>57073629
Oh, neat.
>>57073476
why would I want an overclocked camera?
