I'm looking to get into photography as a hobby but I also want a camera that respects my freedoms, or at least won't require proprietary software to read from. Can /g/ recommend an entry level botnet-free camera?
>>
>>57071310

>Wanting a freetard camera

Aside from impotent bragging on /g/, why?
>>
>>57071356
>why do you want freedom
So that it just werks on my freedoms-respecting machines?
>>
>>57071310
Then get an Analog Film Camera like the SLR shown in pic related.

Or any camera that doesn't have Wi-Fi features.
>>
Film. Process it yourself. Every digital camera has non-free software. Every single one
>>
>>57071310
>I also want a camera that respects my freedoms
A camera is an inanimate object. It cannot respect anything.
>>
>>57071719
>>57071758
I'd like something relatively modern (unless that requires botnet) so I'll settle for one which has a standard, open RAW format so I can work with it on my Trisquel/Parabola computer.
>>
>>57071820
Just skip the RAW and shoot exclusively jpeg.
>>
>>57071918
>work with lossy
No thank you
>>
Even your SD cards run proprietary software, you are fucked.
>>
>>57072144
As long as my computers don't have to, I don't care so much

Canon with magic lantern.
Supported models.

>>
Magic lantern does not replace the custom closed source firmware, it just runs on top of it.
OP I think you are fucked, there is no such a thing as a freedom respecting camera as long as I know.

here you go familia, afterwards you can go jump off a cliff and suffer internal bleeding.
>>
>>57072433
From the FAQ it appears that it runs Magic Lantern instead of the Canon firmware, but can easily go back to the Canon firmware without much trouble, unless I'm misinterpreting?

Thanks you too

>wants a propietary new dslr/slr that requires specific brand lenses that cannot be interchanged
>wants a propietary camera that has to connect to his pc (or phone via app *gasp* botnet!!!!!) to view and move photos which includes localization data saved within the photo's properties
>doesn't want 80s pure tech sexyness
>no frills, simple pictures

>>57072474
can confirm. i shoot sx70. it keeps you from being the 16-year-old-facebook-wannabe-photographer that got a dslr from her parents and posts 5000 pics daily with fake bokeh.
20€ for 8 pics makes you consider very carefully what's worth shooting
>>
>>57072833
Nopey nope. It's all about that rapid-fire continuous shutter with bracketing to get the best possible moment/exposure.
>>
>>57072858
sure, that's an advantage. but it's not necessary unless you shoot moving things.
>>
>>57071310
Anything analogue
>>
>>57072889
Everything moves anon
>>
>>57072978
The only time that rapid fire is a real advantage is when you want to shoot things like someone running running past you. Where you want a specific pose or something like that. For stills, or even plants moving with the wind, or slow moving animals, do you really need it? I never had problems with those.

Nothing says "freedom" as well as CCCP zenit, with generally approved m42 mount which allows you to buy old cheap supermarket russian lenses

while i don't have zenit camera, i do have one of commie lenses. Pleasant shit, does very oldschool bokeh, extreme chromatic aberration also screams "vintage".
