>ISP claims my IP is dynamic and not static
>turn off my modem
>turn it on after I wake up
>still the same IP
Did they scam me

People actually pay to have a dynamic IP address?
I'd have to pay $15/month to have a static IP. What fucking mickey mouse country do you live in?
>>57070053
eastern europe? I know that feel
>>57070053
Change MAC address, turn off modem, wait a few seconds, turn it back on.
You should have another IP. If not, then it's static.
>>57070114
Can't access MAC, wat do
>>57070086
Same here. OP is just being a nigger and failing to understand that leases last for longer periods of time.
>>57070118
Wait until your ISP lease time runs out, it's usually 1 hour.
>>57070118
Why not?
>>57070118
Leave it turned off for a few hours then you might get issued a new one.
>>57070118
buy a mac then
>>57070053
MFW I can request a static IP from my ISP with a simple mouse click, free of charge, instantly
restarting your modem works with DSL, not neccessariliy with cable
>>57070154
it's ADSL
>>57070154
people still use dsl?
>Its another dumbass who doesn't understand DHCP thread
>>57070145
>he has to request one
all I do is change my Router's MAC address and I get a new IP.
>>57070114
This. Also sometimes leaving the modem unplugged for HOURS helps (maybe even days). Just gotta wait for DHCP to expire.

For Verizon, it's harder unless you explicitly ask if you're using coax to the ONT (fiber termination terminal box). I had a five day power outage when Hurricane Sandy hit and when power was restored I had the same exact IP address).
