Do you still use a crt? How does it compare to modern IPS screens?

This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

Do you still use a crt?
How does it compare to modern IPS screens?

My crt has gotten dim(low brightness) so I'm thinking of switching it over to one of those nice 1440p monitors. How much of an improvement will it be?
Anyone been in a similar position before?

Pic related because CRT.

Also, side question, if I grab one of those beige cases like in pic related, will a micro atx mainboard be compatible?

I could answer your question in detail but I just don't care anymore.
>>
>>57067672
Seconded.
>>
>>57067644

The IPS will be much brighter than a crt
>>
>>57067644
Check the case before buying, I think they were atx but I'm not 100%.

Also that IPS will look much nicer than an old dying crt. Try looking at qnix ones from eBay, they can overclock real good.

Iiyama Vision Master Pro 454.

Resolution goes up to 1920x1440, the colors are great and it's awesome for gaming because no lag.

It's sad that they're not produced anymore.
>>
>>57067776
That sounds expensive though.

>>57067723
Thanks, I look forward to that.

>>57067757
Can anyone else confirm about the case? Would love it for the aesthetics
>>
>>57067644
CRT is still the best display tech

only perfected OLED can replace it
>>
>>57067796
Yes but CRTs are dying and not being produced anymore unfortunately
>>
>>57067644
Skip 1440p IPS for this 4k display at only $300

There's a few highly specialized CRTs still in production

but what I wouldn't give for a slim/flat 120hz 1080p CRT

4k isn't worth it yet since it'll be a struggle to drive for many GPUs. I want to play a few games in my free time too
>>
>>57067893
1080p scales perfectly with 4k, so AAA games will run at 1080p no problem
>>
>>57067908
Alright then what's a good 4k 27 inch monitor? Is it at least 60hz? I remember something about them being 30hz?

Is there any significant difference? Or just go for the cheapest?

I just linked one above man

the AOC free-sync one is really good for the money, IPS ones are near $500

Right, sorry. I'm cooking dinner at the same time so I missed it.

Let's have a look.
>>
>>57067644
Sharpness: Enormously better, especially for text, but only at native resolution.
Color: About the same accuracy if you get a good IPS monitor. Significantly worse if you don't.
Brightness: Similar or worse. Better since your CRT is old and crappy.
Black: CRTs beat any LCD on black.

This desu. I feel this way when interacting with people irl, it's much easier to grunt and make some rhetorical statement than to put time into an explanation that most people won't have the attention span to comprehend anyhow.

That's great, I can upgrade to vega/490 when it comes out too.

>>57068049
Cheers mate, that sounds pretty good.

You seem rather desperate for attention. I'm pretty sure that you've been samefagging this thread for a while now.

I'm generally happy with my LCDs, though I have a particularly bright and vivid 17" CRT too, and when I set it next to them the contrast ratio and vivid colors outshine the LCD. Still, having larger screens without them weighing upward of 50 pounds, requiring a reinforced desk, and taking up all space behind them is really nice.
