I don't know what phone you're on, but I haven't had anything but gapless playback since I started using Google Play Music
And I think the GUI is pretty nice.
Google Play Music is free. You don't have to sign up for All Access to use it. You can just upload your own music to it like you would Google Drive.

But, if you really want to leave, I'd suggest Shuttle.

eh only use GPM for 50,000 songs on their servers synced automatically to connected devices. Got the uploader set to automatically upload songs in a specific directory on my PC which is auto-downloaded from RSS.

downloads offline for saved playlists too.

honestly no other reason to use GPM. it's a very specific niche.

poweramp was pretty good when I still moved music manually like a neanderthal. but good luck with the free part.

How to set up album artist only in poweramp? Compilation albums are fucking up with loads of 1 song artists. Tried finding this in settings but it seems i'm blind.

I like phonograph but blackplayer looks nice too

The devs for the Android version are retarded idiots anyway. Never charge people for the desktop version then suddenly "Oh, we're gonna do an Android version, PAY US MOTHERFUCKERS..." and I just laugh knowing it'll fail and so far it has.

I bought GoneMAD using actual cash but could have bought it using Play Store credits I got from Google Rewards - it's worth every fucking cent.

A single developer, fast to respond to requests and bug fixes, doesn't ask for much for the app, and I don't regret the purchase one bit.
