Is there even a confirmed release date for the desktop pc version?
Wat. It's coming next year.

they said October 2 thousand of 16
what happened
>>57043626
There were murmurs of Q4'16, but Q1'17 seems to be the expectation for at least the last 3-6 months.
> but seriously, Summit Ridge can't come soon enough. Broadwell-E pricing is unadulterated jewry.
Best case scenario
~5% of Broadwell E with good balance of multicore and IPC
worst case scenario
its another Bulldozer with 0 single core performance
whats it gonna be guys
>>57044682
My prediction is 0-5% slower than Broadwell clock-for-clock with marginally lower thermal efficiency and top clocks.
But when a 8c*3.2 GHz Broadwell-E sells for $1100 and a 8c*3.0 GHz Summit Ridge sells for under $600, that'll be fucking close enough.

AMD says Zen is 95w, BroadwellE uses 140w doesnt it?
If I can get slightly slower performance for less money and less housefire id take it.
>>57045512
Broadwell-Es are all 140W from aggressive clocks, 4 channel memory controller, and beefy AVX throughput.
Nobody has any clue what all the Summit Ridge bins' TDPs will be, nor even how many gimped variants will be sold.
The only thing I'm nervous about Zen at this point is the dual DDR4 controller setup, since it means needing presumably much pricier MCMs to get large RAM pools.
Yes, 64 GB DIMMs exist, but they're priced absurdly.
if no one makes an ITX motherboard that supports Summit Ridge ill kill myself

hope your noose is ready for such an occasion
