If you copied every single file from one hard drive with an operating system installed to another hard drive then used that drive would you be able to boot normally as if nothing changed?
What's the easiest way of creating a replica of an operating system and duplicating it onto multiple hard drives otherwise?
I know there are many utilities for this but how have you done it and which method is the best?

Depends on OS. Linux will work fine no matter where you put ir. Windows and OS X will shit themselves and not even boot.
Use dd

Image the drive with a disk utility, jackass.
Can you create an image of your OS in a virtual machine and put it onto a USB then connect it to another PC and clone that image to the hard drive?
Do you need a unique key for each individual machine?
