theres way way way too many streaming and embedded video sites. JUST youtube? Sure. But I haven't found one that will download what I need that isn't some sketchy software. I used to use DownloadHelper, but that was a FF only extension, never got a chrome release.

I literally have Firefox installed just for that purpose. but you're right... maybe just get a portable version and use extensions that the botnet doesn't allow because it is too close to youtube and keeps too tight of regulation on its extensions. DownloadHelper also does gallery downloading.
