opinions on the Brave browser?
I just learned about it tonight.

Hopefully it will become the new Firefox
>>
>>56977360
>>56977428
Fuck off shills. The front page explains why you should never use a browser like this and why you should never trust Eich. FOSS may help in risk assessment, but that doesn't save the end user, you need CommonSense CurrentYear Edition™ for that.

Looks interesting, I'll give it a try.

Why do you want this? Why not just use Iridium? Firefox, PaleMoon and Opera are shit and those are well established.
>>
>>56977360
i want addons(vim movement and somthing like greasemonkey).
than i switch into it.
>>
>>56977360
Adware. There's not much difference between this browser and one of those shady adware that visualize you ads all day in exchange of 0.000001 shekels

it will replace firefox, which has collapsed due to a communist take over, as the alternative browser of choice, at the very least.

it has the potential to be the best browser available though. its being developed rapidly, and a 1.0 release should come out soon. i already use it, and love it. they also take feedback, and have used my ideas before too.

great team, great browser.
>>
kind of ugly but not bad so far

>>56979132
That girl is a cutie. Good thing brave can't be infiltrated by SJWs since Eich is against fags, dykes, and trannies.
>>
>>56979621
do you guys think they keep her around because she's cute or because she can actually code?
>>
>>56979649
shes not that cute so she can probably code, you can see her make lots of commits to tbe brave repo on github. and theres another blue haired asian girl who does too. not too attractive either but makes lots of commits.
>>
>>56979649
Since it's still under active development and is in beta testing, I highly doubt he would hire someone with no skill on the browser before it's first stable release.
>>
>>56977360
So... is it build on Blink/Firefox or from the ground up?

seems fine to me. not sure how it ultimately will work though. i think you can add funds for now? but later you will receive bitcoin for browsing which you can keep or give to sites you like. or you can disable all ads altogether and receive nothing.
>>
>>56977360
Too early to tell if it's shit or not. Ignore it until it's less ugly and less obviously-in-beta.

I've yet to see an ad. I think you have to opt into the whole ad pyramid scheme thing.

>She would fit in perfectly here
Sadly /g/ is filled with shills who do nothing but b8 "freetard".
>>
>>56979288
Iridium kept pinging google servers when I used it
>>
Why does brave have no proxy support? Am I just not finding it?
>>
>>56983511
/g/ is full of shills from the NSA/google/microsoft/apple along with /v/ and reddit. I don't know which is worse.
>>
>>56983459
so what exactly is so great about this browser compared to firefox? I'm not going to switch away from firefox just because I don't like the developers.
>>
Can't choose Startpage as search engine
Can't use browser proxy (some people like to use a separate proxy for their browser not a whole system proxy)
Lack of customization
Still a bit glitchy / in development (that's ok, not a big deal)

Those are the problems I see , otherwise it's pretty good and I would probably use it
>>
>>56982118
There are still reasons to run xp, I guess, but why keep it on a personal rig?
I'm not really into the whole "linux on the desktop" thing, at least I don't think it'll become anything mainstream, but you're in a rare situation where it's much more beneficial to run a Linux distro. You can still use up-to-date versions of most distros on 686's without any issues. Hell, i just found an old netbook I had with an Atom made for xp, and she runs like a beauty in Mint.

I love how obvious MS shills are, its not like tricking the goyim with a well hidden scheme, its just plain obvious "Here kid, eat out my ass, just do it, you have to, no choice, just do it kid"

Why do "content creators" feel so entitled to make money from the Internet? It was never intended as a means for revenue generation, let alone for commercial advertising.

Firefox doesn't need that much to be saved.
-Improve the fucking UI performance, its been the entire reason for all these years its been like "muh performance, muh memory leaks, muh speed, muh ram"
- literally steal the better mouse controls from Opera 12, and make them default
- Clean up some default settings
-Find a good way to bundle it, so you can compete with Chrome again

>>
>>56989217

>>
>>56989247
>>56989262
by default it is 'no ads'

optionally you can change it to 'brave ads' which show you their ads which are less intrusive and non-tracking

with their ads they split the revenue. they get 15%, you get 15% (to an anonymous bitcoin wallet that sets up automatically), and sites get the rest (or something like that)

in theory anyway, the brave ads and payments don't work for me yet
>>
>>56989291
I don't really understand how the websites will get the money. I think it's still best to use Vivaldi and whitelist sites in ublock origin. This seems like a cash grab by the developers of this browser.
>>
>>56989351
see >>56979992
brave gets a list of what you visit and how long you spent there, and they pay those sites on that basis
they claim this information is collected in a non-identifiable way and the browser is open source but maybe it's a botnet
>>
>>56989351
that's exactly what it is. adblockplus did the same thing. and then they slipped and let malware ads through like the fucking retards they are.

That's where I'm at to

I group the SJW browsers into two categories

Annoying SJW reddit tier
-Chrome

Rabid militant SJW tumblr tier
-Firefox

I'm currently using the latter because the former is a massive botnet. You can probably tell how much of a toll this takes on me... So I'm hoping Bave browser will be the alternative that rescues, but I am waiting for 1.0
