ok, not looking to make /g/ my tech support, just wondering if anyone has gone through the same thing.

>get program that says it'll do both
>I get it unlocked
>go to root
>wont do it
>ADB recovery device not found
>reinstall ADB driver
>still wont root

Install custom recovery (TWRP) and flash supersu.zip.
You can find tons of detailed instructions on xda-developers.com.

No, you just have to install adb and fastboot

Go to xda-developers.com and search Nexus 5. There are lots of tutorials for rooting and installing custom ROMs
