Is my graphics card dead/dying?
I'm going to start this thread by saying when it comes to computers, I'm basically retarded. I know how to put one together, but can't diagnose problems or fix it myself.
Anyway, a few days ago my computer started artifacting hard when I was playing games, leading to an eventual crash. I tested it with a few more games and got the same result. Any load on the gpu will cause it to artifact then fuck up display drivers.
So I booted up the computer in safe mode, uninstalled all drivers, and let Windows install its own drivers. After restarting my computer, my screen was peppered in green dots. When I reinstalled Nvidias drivers, everything seemed fine, but again, any mild load put on the graphics card, would cause it to artifact and crash the drivers.
I'm really not sure how to fix the problem, Google isn't helping.
Running Windows 10
Gpu is a GTX 780
Power supply is 750W so it can't be a lack of power.
Pic related is some of the worst artifacting I saw while trying to tinker last night. Sorry if the photo ends up upside down or something.
Oh yeah dude, you're screwed.
He's dead, Jim. You let it overheat.
Yes it's dieing, either try to RMA it if it has RMA or look up gpu baking method

You could check the temperatures. It could be a heat issue but otherwise it's fucked.

R.I.P.

nah it's okay

keep any cable away from your graphics card. unplug everything and boot your pc

You sure it overheated? It doesn't run above 60c ever, I don't play intense games
I don't think I can RMA a 2 year old card, can I?
Errors happen when you run card upside down.
>GTX 780
That's the problem here
Unplugged my internet and made sure Windows wouldn't download any of its own drivers. Uninstalled all video drivers and installed Nvidias latest.
Rebooted my computer and everything seems fine, gonna try launching a game.

whats up with the upside downs?

When you upload a photo to 4chan, it strips some sort of data from the photo, on mobile phones this includes the orientation, so it ends up fucking up and posting stuff sideways or upside down.
Anyway, everything looked like it was going fine after the reboot, the game was running normally for about 5 minutes until artifacts appeared and my computer became unresponsive.
I haven't ruled out if my hdmi port is the issue, I don't have a DVI cable, so I guess I'll have to borrow one from a friend or something.
Are people still reading this thread? Anyone have ideas?

I think any gpu that has to render that wallpaper would want to kill itself.

I had the same problem with a card I got from craigslist :^)
its likely dead forever. oven method might revive it for some time but its gonna break again eventually
