I had used most linux distributions for long time, Now i bought a dell XPS 15 LAPTOP with an nvidia gtx 960m.
For many reasons i couldn't get to install the driver, because after i did, i can't get to the UI and i get stoke on the CLI interface until i unistall the driver.
I tested on fedora 23,24.
I don't like fedora but its the one loaded into my USB, so if it works in any distribution let me know so i can start downloading
Thanks fags

Optimus is shit in linux, I don't know what you expected. Pretty much everyone recommends going Intel CPU + graphics for the smoothest experience with linux on laptop. Not sure why you would decide otherwise when you clearly have no idea what you're doing.

Can concur
Linux in my desktop was hell
Linux in my Intel driven laptop just werks

It makes me sad
>>

I thought radeon was the one that was shit on linux laptops
>>
>>56960818
It's not the GPU itself that is the problem but the ways of dealing with optimus for the dual graphics devices, none of which are ideal.
>>
>>56960786
i have an nvidia gpu on my thinkpad and its always been damn smooth. cant remember the model, NVS-something

Optimus is more or less a hardware switch between the IGPU and the discrete mobile GPU. NVIDIA drivers are plenty for Linux but don't officially support Optimus. For that you need bumblebee which is a pile of shit.
>>
Ahhh, just to make it clear, my laptop has an Intel GPU and an nvidia 960m, But the nvida GPU is not functional, So i cant play 4k videos or any high graphics thigns in linux.
I don't want to switch to windows, But i guss i have to
>>
>>56960786
Intel GPU's aren't so powerful
>>
I will try Ubuntu and see if there is any success there...
>>
Has anyone gotten Bumblebee to work?
>>
I've got a $1200 ASUS with a 965m and it works just fine with Nvidia proprietary drivers.

OpenSUSE though, Fedora gave me trouble.
>>
I installed Ubuntu and I guess there problem was fedora, works perfectly in Ubuntu. sweet!!!
