Just got an old pc from a mate.
e7300, 6GB ddr3, gt210.
I've got an old HD5770 laying around, thinking of turning it into a cheap steam box. Is the e7300 enough for dota, csgo, magicka 2, planetary annihilation, l4d2, etc?
Is it worth it to upgrade to a x5450 or should I just scrap it and fork or the dosh for a full new PC?
Ausfag here, so in terms of pricing it'll be something like
>$35 for the cpu upgrade only
Or
>$450 for a fully new low end pc
Also, ubuntu or windows?
If you trying to gaym go windows. Playing games through wine or a VM is autistic

those games dont use multi threading so yes
>>56942017
Pretty sure they do?
>>56942010
Don't a bunch of steam games run natively on Linux?
>>56942017
Dude, PA is heavily multithreaded. It runs great on my fx8320.

They can run natively (dota2, csgo, l4d2) but the performance is much worse. If you want to use ubuntu I would suggest dual booting.

>the performance is much worse
debatable

any moar pix of that slav semen demon?

KVM hardware pass through works wonderfully though

Source?
I don't think it'll matter as long as 1080p60fps 2bh, and why would op even dual boot then?
