The sensor has 1.55 micron pixels and is only 12.3 megapixels (excessively high resolutions do little to add to clarity at a certain point, and may actually detract past a certain point). 1.55 microns is pretty good. There are P&S cameras (like pic related) coming out with sensor pixels that size these days (DSLRs have massive sensor pixels, but then again "duh").

We can't estimate how much better the camera would be if it had OIS, but it would definitely be better (barring a truly dog shit company doing it)

Companies don't care about you. They never have. Apple is not exclusive in this. Every company does it in their own way. Do you know why the Samsung Galaxy S7 had all the features it did? Because it had to compete with the iPhone. Every company wants to have what Apple has. That's why Google is slowly moving towards that. It's shaping up to be an iPhone.

Company have not and will not include things just for fun if they don't have to. Those that do will only do it because they're forced to. That's why OnePlus is such a great value. They don't give a fuck about you. They do it because it'll give them sales and a market to compete in.

Unless you're implying every product must have as much stuff as possible or else it's not good. That by not having a feature one phone is worse than another. Clearly it's not. Google and Apple both announced they have over one billion users respectively on their mobile platforms. Clearly both sides are doing fine with their philosophies.
